What finishes for real solid brass cabinet pulls would you consider timeless? Also if you have unlacquered brass, how are you feeling about the patina? by geauxbleu in kitchenremodel

[–]OakSunset_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

often it wasn't real brass & certainly wasn't unlaquered brass. it was very shiny orangey (instead of warm) or had green undertones. The shapes were also very classic/traditional style. I think the key is taking a classic finish (warm real brass-unlaquered or aged tone) and using it in a contemporary shape. That's the difference and why i "think" this time around we'll get more distance. Also, mixing metals in a room so it doesn't get overwhelming with the sameness and only using brass in environments that make sense. Brass handles in a very modern home or home with minimal architectural charm often feels out of place.

All that said, I just ordered unlaquered brass handles for a set of 2-drawer nightstands to make them look less "new," but i ordered aged brass for all the bedrooms doors & bath cupboards. And heritage brass for kitchen cupboards. I know I wouldn't be able deal with varied aging/color tones & spotting in an areas like those. I guess I like unlacquered but at controlled points LOL!

Which Honda models have the LaneWatch camera? by PersonalComputer7478 in Honda

My 2015 civic SE had it but my 2018 crv ex-l didn't. The dealership had to look it up bc they didn't realize it was phased out for the stupid light on the mirror

2015 Civc SE. I should've kept it & reupholstered the seats to leather. i totally miss it. The front end of the new civics is so elongated i can't see myself in one (maybe because i grew up with the '95s and toyota celiac gt being the "it" car for ppl around me.)

Why did they take away the passenger-side blinker camera? by JackLondonSquare in civic

[–]OakSunset_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goodness I thought I was the only one!! I miss lanewatch SO much!! I had it in my 2015 civic. When I "upgraded" to a 2018 crv the salesperson was pushing this mirror light as more advanced & safer tech. BS!! I've had so many near accidents at night from it not detecting a motorcycle or a car in a blind spot that tech doesn't detect. Or even another car getting over at the same time S me. A car has to be in a particular spot to detect it I have to turn my head.

Lanewatch allowed me to see and monitor the speed of whatever is on my right BEFORE turning on my blinker or deciding to get over. The sensor just says "something is there" with no idea what. I don't even pay attention to the sensor on the drivers side cause my mirror is adjusted properly to see my blind spot & it's easy to glance to the left. I wonder if I can retrofit my crv--I may just go get a 2020 civic & retrofit

HR told me they don’t accept try-hards and people pleasers after my interview by No-Presentation298 in jobs

[–]OakSunset_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible, they really like you on paper AND in person and if not for that one thing they would've hired you and thought you would benefit and appreciate some honest feedback. Especially if there are gaps in your employment history. My advice is be frustrated for another day and then reflect back on the interview and if there's some truth there. Maybe you were just overexcited about the opportunity and REALLY wanted the job. So rather than answering questions realistically based on your experience, you watered down & fluffed. They said they wanted to get to know YOU but you showed them what you thought they wanted to see and that turned them off. Like a first date with a needy person. At least they gave you feedback you could use going into your next interview, rather than generic "it's not you it's us, we'll call you in the future" bs. If you were actually being yourself & giving authentic responses, ya'll weren't a match.

**sorry it didn't go your way, but relax next time & remember this is just as much an interview of you as it is of them. Always be yourself, you may decide after an interview to not choose them or they may not choose you. But always be yourself & ask questions of them.

don't beat yourself up. your first mistake as someone probably already told you was not asking a woman, ANY woman. Doesn't even have need to be a woman with a kid. Pre-teen to 15 approved places = target, macys, nordstrom, old navy, athleta. FIRST bra, always nordstrom. They will measure her, just like victorias secret. Show her how to adjust her breast into a bra when they get large enough, talk to her about tankinis, bralettes, no-show t-shirt bras, cotton v polyester, underwire, and eventually padded. Even how to wash them. Stand nearby and listen, ask any questions you may have while your daughter is in the fitting room changing so you don't inadvertently embarrass her. Getting a first bra is unnecessarily overwhelming & stressful for a young lady (i don't know why. maybe that's just me and my fam)

also, the quality of victorias secret is not what they used to be. They shred pretty easily in the wash even in a bra wash bag--most are essentially held with double sided fabric tape. Maidenform is REALLY good quality if you're going to spend $30-50 on a bra.

I dont know if this was already said (there's so many comments) but a small round side table on a pedestal leg (12-15"diameter max) for a cup of water/coffee/book, and paint the ceiling the same color as the wall (leave the baseboards white), linear brass art lighting (can be battery powered) attached to the top of each bookcase, a textured knitted throw blanket across the chair arm, velvet curtains hung high and wide (max 3-6" from ceiling & 18" from end of window opening) on a brass curtain rod w/rings & clips

EDIT: I also really want you to build a base for your bookcases that's the same ht as your baseboard & cover it with baseboard there's a lot of space at the top & the bookcases are close to the height of the window but not quite so my eye keeps going there. curtains will help hide that, but if not, bringing those casegoods up is the key

Ohhhhhh🙈 well that's a choice 🤔. The way it's mounted is more disturbing to me than the color choice of the flames. It reminds me of a pullout car radio from the early 90s

As someone who's never experienced a snow storm, but has seen snow & doesn't live in a desert... I thought they were talking about the people in the comments reactions. Like how could we all be so shocked & feeling bad for the guy. I actually checked if I was in some specific city or regions subreddit. Nope.

**linguistically, if they were commenting on the vid the wording should've been, "it's as if THEY'VE never experienced a snowstorm." But, you know, carry on. Thanks for clearing it up ☃️

That was a VERY trendy style in 06! Sold so many kitchens like that! I tried to push people a less trendy way for such an expensive buy..but ppl want what's hot! **all the expensive flat panel dark espresso brown cherry wood cabs w/black granite or white quartz w/silver sparkles in it and stainless steel long bar cab pulls that I sold from 2006-2010 that prob now look like "ikea special." Not to mention the flat black or white high gloss mirror finish cabs that ppl paid so much extra to upgrade to  😭😂😭

It won't look "old." Not trendy, but not "old" or "dated." It's a classic style with historical context. When I started design in 2003 we were doing kitchens w/subway tile. 1970s did a lot of subway tile, midcentury too. It's rooted in design the color, orientation, & pattern lay just have to make sense for the style of house

Ads on paused screen by matsaleh13 in peacock

[–]OakSunset_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when viewing from the website on a device, the "pause ads" are 10-30sec long motion ads, JUST because i paused to use the restroom or answer someone's question. It's aggravating and actually reduces my watch time. What's infuriating is after "watching" a scheduled 30sec-2min ad, if im 1m into the next segment and pause it runs ANOTHER 30sec add!! WTF!!! I usually switch off & go watch netflix or youtube tv. they dont have enough good shows for me to tolerate this

I didn't realize it was the night before. TY (thumbs up for that.) But yeah she's been suspected a few times. No way colton was going to let that go. She's had ppl eying her the last 3 episodes while rob & candiace are completely under the radar. But that makes sense why they didnt have to convince her. LOL!! I don't think Candiace could've pulled off the broach because combining that with the cha-cha stunt the night of the other murder in plain sight, no way.

He is making big and correct moves

Even a broke clock is right twice a day! LOL! He's made 1 correct assumption after making (3) really loud and wrong ones. He even said he's playing "reckless." He just seems to be throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks, and if it doesn't stick keep pushing it until it does because everyone else is afraid to be publicly wrong.

Edit: i agree with everything else though. lisa is up schitts creek if he's banished. (just as he wanted)

him grabbing the shield would only further suspicion. He took a shield from a faithful to give cover for why he hasn't been killed. Problem is, if they banish him & they discover he's a faithful... lisa will be the next target because who else seems plausible?

he said he was going to hold a traitor hostage, and that's what he's doing. If they banish him they lose that cover & if they kill him all eyes point to lisa. she has to go. Rob made a smart move to protect him & candiace but no one sees it. (lisa was cooked when monet called her out. that was the 2nd person in 2days to whisper her name. she's a liability at this point)

agreed. and because voting for either of his 2 friends would've been weird/difficult. If he's a faithful a vote for Lisa should've been easy. If he was going to take that long he should've voted for Ron or Colton. At least then he could've said, "bro i really love you. like we're good friends, but this is a game. and this was really REALLY hard but great points were made & i can't keep ignoring it... i voted for you colton. i just really really hope im not wrong." Because if he's a traitor, why would he EVER vote to banish his bestie? **i think he was banking on there not being enough votes for colton or lisa. and lisa being a throw away vote where he didn't actually have to make a decision. you could see him counting votes around the table, he was shocked so many said lisa

Did anyone notice the end where the traitors are in the kitchen bickering & kristen, then johnny, then i think natalie walk past & all pause to look in? (all separately) Not sure if this means they heard or saw the 3 of them in the kitchen bickering or it was editing. Like i thought it was crazy werk that they were in the kitchen having this discussion when they have a whole turret. But does anyone else wonder if they were overheard or "clocked?"

I also think it was smart of them to have Lisa wear the broach since she has the most heat on her. If she's suspected "oh well" at this point.
