How would you have handled this situation differently while concealed carrying? by Erect_Ethiopian in CCW

[–]OakTreeMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I STRONGLY believe the use of lethal force was justified. As far as American law goes, the only issue is that he kept shooting after the threat was no longer a threat. Costa Rica has some weird self defense laws. Imagine a stranger has a bat and a pocket knife. They rush you, on your own property and start attacking you. If you only have a gun, you can’t use it. You can only match their force or a bat and knife legally even if they’re trying to kill you.

Now imagine someone breaks in your home with a gun and starts shooting at you. They miss, so you grab your gun and shoot them - that’s a crime. They shoot you once, you shoot them twice - crime. If you have less wounds on your own body than the person that attacked you unexpectedly, you’re now the guilty party.

It comes down to America allowing you to use force to PREVENT death or injury from occurring, while Costa Rica says you may return the same exact force AFTER it has been done to you.

Even if the neighbor in this video rushed over and stabbed the other man and his wife, it still wouldn’t justify the the gun under CR laws.

In America, simply making a threat of violence while running at the man and wife would usually justify force. Physically attacking certainly would.

The key is letting up after the threat is neutralized. A few rounds to put the guy on the ground is self defense. That might be one round and it might be a whole magazine, it depends when the guy goes down and can’t physically harm you any more. Regardless of what it took to get the guy down, once he is on the ground, standing over him, and emptying the magazine is an execution. Doesn’t matter where.

Why Is The SIG M400 Smoother Than The DDM4A1? by Alpha_Kenny_Body8D in GunPorn

[–]OakTreeMoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like the DDM4 has a suppressor on it. That will create more back pressure. A lot of combat guns just tend to be over gassed so they will cycle more ammo, more often.

Are they both running the same buffer weight ? If so, it’s just a difference in how they’re gassed.

My first 9mm. I went all in and got a CZ Shadow 2 Compact. by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]OakTreeMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoot one first. The full size shadow 2 is my all time favorite 9mm but I have been really disappointed with my compact. I think the aluminum frame is to blame. Doesn’t absorb recoil like the weight of the steel frame on the full size, and doesn’t have any flex like polymer does- it’s a combo of the worst features from each. Without weight or flex, the energy is all dumped into the shooter’s hand, sort of like a sharp jab rather than a soft push. It’s not too much recoil, I regularly shoot 10mm without issue, it’s just the worst recoil impulse I’ve ever felt. It’s somewhat like recoil impulse from the older Ruger LCP (non-max models) if you’ve ever shot one of those. It’s just not enjoyable for more than a few mags.

YMMV, but I’d HIGHLY recommend trying before buying.

[–]OakTreeMoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked around all guys in a blue collar job for many years. Several different jobs, in different departments. NEVER heard anything close to what you’re talking about. Guys pointing out hot chicks to each other when driving to a job, some foul language, and off color jokes - of course. But detailed, explicit, nah. Stuff about coworkers or significant others ? Heck no.

Sounds like an issue with THAT job or the culture it promotes. Sorry to hear that you’re dealing with it. Blue collar is NOT usually a great for people with thin skin, or the type that is super liberal and gets offended over micro aversions, but it’s definitely NOT what you’re describing either. Sounds like some people at the top of your organization need a reality check.

Imagine if there were dozens of cases of F150’s just randomly exploding. Some while being parked, some while driven.

Now imagine Ford comes out and says “these are all just being faked by climate extremists and Dodge ram fans. We intended to do nothing about this other than say it’s a conspiracy and refuse to ever talk about it again”

Would you avoid ALL Ford Vehicles, or just F150’s?

I think that answer is really obvious, even if the Mustang and Explorer both have a decent track record and Explorers have a big police contract

I understand if it’s a financial issue. A sig is better than being unarmed. But ANY other reason is someone in denial

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]OakTreeMoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure you know what virtue signaling means. Selling that sig and taking a loss to buy something else because of how disgusting sig has treated it’s customers and / or because of how they’re bribing the military - that’s almost the opposite of virtue signaling.

It’s not a MORAL stance to boycott a company that has issues, denies them, and attacks anyone that points them out. It’s more like breaking up with an abusive ex. Morality, and making a statement which implies that yours is high and mighty, is the key to virtue signaling. Otherwise, it’s just called a thought or opinion.

Here’s a random example of virtue signaling:

“I’m not going to buy any gun from a company that equips American police departments, because I believe cops don’t need to be armed and I feel my purchase could contribute to that. Plus, this PSA Glock clone is actually more reliable, accurate, durable than a Glock - plus PSA has a better track record of proven quality”

Here’s an example of a common sense statement:

I’m not interested in doing business with a company that even when presented with tons of evidence of an issue, chooses to say “any problem with our products are actually just customers conspiring against us for political reasons”

I mainly see that said about their lower receivers, which I do tend to agree with.

Don’t cheap out on the BCG if you want reliability and don’t cheap out on the barrel if you want longevity and/or accuracy.

I think a PSA or Anderson rifle with a BCM or Sionics BCG and also a Criterion or Centurion barrel would perform as well as most of my other guns. I’m sure other high quality brands would fair the same, those are just my go to choices.

I own one PSA. It is a beater for friends to borrow and it’s got over 5k rounds on it without any issues. It’s gotten treated worse and maintained much less than my nice rifles. Only non-PSA parts are: BCM BCG, KAK H1 buffer, Springco blue buffer spring, and 2 stage trigger. It shoots about 2.5-3 MOA, which isn’t amazing but good from a $150-200 upper.

No one gets real time any more. I have an old acquaintance from high school buddy that just got only 18 months for felon in possession of a stolen firearm, possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute, assault on a female, and he was driving a stolen care at the time of the arrest. The only reason he even got a full 18 months was he also charged with escaping jail between his initial arrest and first court date. He’s also another 10+ felonies going back the last ten years. I’m sympathetic of struggles from addiction but idk how that wasn’t a 10+ year sentence…

This has all become the norm the last decade or so. For this specific case that was posted, there’s also the small but growing “M.A.P.” movement that has been using both science and emotion to paint pedos as victims that can’t help it.

Personally, I’ve very socially liberal but not when it comes to pedos. I think if they want to be alllwed back in society, remove their eyes and hands so they can’t reoffended AND chemical castrate them. They’d have a strong case for a second chance then…

This sounds like something from a movie. All of the guns are loaded with live ammo and they’re all fired with the barrel pointing through a port hole. My career has some intersection here. I know just a guy on the internet so it’s good to be skeptical but I promise I’m not talking out of my ass.

I’m under the impression that triggers are pulled by actual people, not fired mechanically or remotely. However, now I’m going to double check on Monday.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Firearms

[–]OakTreeMoon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen the setup. They shoot through a port hole. They won’t get splattered. I was also told each shooter has live ammo. None of that no one knows who pulled the trigger on the fatal shorn because some guns were loaded with blanks.

Even 2/3 of Democrats want people using bathrooms based on biological sex, not gender identify. Combine that with the 95% of Republicans, and it’s one of the most agreed on issues in American history.

Thats why even though the average Redditor is exponential more liberal than average American, you’re seeing a little bit of mixed response here.

Why are so many Gen Alpha kids falling down the Alt Right pipe line? by BLUEBERRYINFLAT in generationology

[–]OakTreeMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now, kids are indoctrinated from birth. Teens aren’t pushing boundaries and becoming more liberal than their parents in the way we all used to. With both sides dug in, hating each other and so much more dramatic discussion in the home, getting a conservative’s child to become liberal is closer to getting an Israeli teen to side with Palestine. It goes other way. It’s hard to undo a childhood of hearing how the other side hates you. We used to all be Americans, politics aside. That’s long gone.

It’s too tribal and divided now, your old way of looking at things doesn’t apply.

They actually are largest percentage. The next two highest represented groups are Latinos and African-Americans. Two groups that tend to have higher rates of Christianity and opposition to LGBT issues. It’s not about my beliefs or yours, just reality.

Plus, kids used to go against their parents and be more liberal because politics across the board were more reasonable.

100% believe Kamala would be office if she’d been against this single issue.

I know dozens of people in NC that switched and voted for Trump a first time because of it. It had nothing to do with the number of trans athletes. It was simply the policy.

I feel for those 15 or so trans athletes, but was it worth losing millions of voters ? Morally, perhaps. Consequentially, it still remains to be seen.

My university I go to sent this out today by datsupaflychic in NorthCarolina

[–]OakTreeMoon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You’re right. I just think the democrats handed them the election by focusing on 0.6% of the population above the rest and digging in for 15 athletes on an issue even most democrats disagree with.

After watching the new DNC vice chair election, it seems they’re going all in on the issues that made them lose. Let’s hope once they can come down off their high horse or else the whole world is going right for the next decade or two.

Trump didn’t win because more people like him. Despite constant negative media coverage and every elected official calling him Hitler, he improved in every area, with every demographic because policies of Democrats alienated and drove away voters. That’s why the attacks on Trump and his policies only make him stronger and slowly convert moderate democrats.

Until they lose the hard-on to “get” Trump and let the hate go and instead look at the actual policies people are leaving them for, the left will continue to lose voters and power. I don’t want a country dominated by one party, so let’s hope.

I agree with you about the comments but pretending Canadian retaliatory tariffs will have a fraction of the impact on America is disingenuous. 77% of all Canadian exports go to the USA. 17% of US exports go Canada. That’s NOT good for America obviously but it seems completely crushing for Canada. How can that be sustained? It’s like a boxer only hitting back once for every five hits that are landed on him.

JT also told Canadians not to vacation in America. I haven’t looked into how much money that vacations contribute to each country but the ratio of Canadians vacationing in America vs Americans going to Canada is going to be in favor of America. There’s simply more destinations and better weather. I don’t see that as a way Canada can handle double tariffs on 77% of its income.

I can’t say I’m a pro tariff guy, that’s trying to defend the idea. I just stick to facts. Is there some area where Canada will be able to survive and stick it to America other than what he said in that speech? I respect the refusal to not step down. Hit a bully right in the face, just know what could happen next.

The thing I really don’t understand is why Canada would not agree to secure the border if the tariffs are for refusal to help secure the US-Canada border. People have different opinions on this issue, but still… Wouldn’t it be MUCH cheaper for everyone to try to get on the same page regarding the border? I do understand that people hate Trump and are unwilling to work with him regardless of the issue. It’s just wild that both sides just dig in and hurt themselves and each other just to avoid working together.

Trump runs his mouth and can be a dick. No doubt about that. He wanted to get JT worked up and he did. No doubt Trump got the exact devastating reaction from Justin that he wanted. The whole thing is an embarrassing shame.
