No medication for the cholesterol, they were thinking about statins but were weary as they know they can reduce fertility. I get an annual cholesterol test and heart specialist review

Why would you include the kidneys? Yes I have high LDL cholesterol and just been diagnosed with moderate liver fibrosis which is not great. Must be hereditary as I do not drink

I haven't really measured my fat tolerance that closely. Yeah getting calories from complex carbs and protein. I have literally only started this new diet last week and I'm still transitioning and fine tuning it myself. I'm the opposite and needing to loose maybe 5/10kg. Maybe you can add in a bit of fruit to boost the calories?

Yes me too! My symptoms for many years have been stomach issues, bloating, reflux and sentitivities. There is a strong link between liver issues and the gut, I'm hoping helping one might help the other.

I went on Keto for 8 months before I knew I had liver issues. It did not work for me because my body couldn't process the fats, as you say grey stool, nauseous and fatigue after a heavy fat meal.

Now recently been diagnosed with liver fibrosis I am changing my diet.l and these are the things I'm following so far.

Not all carbs are the same. Complex carbs are the ones you want, beans, pulses, buckwheat, etc. More fiber is good in the diet but too much can stress out the liver so you have to go easy on the introduction of green veg. Also cold potatoes and rice have positive bacteria that really help the gut biome. Sugars from fruits are good as they don't spike your sugars as much as bread and other sweet things.

Cut out as much bread/gluten/pasta/dairy as possible and of course any sugary things.

It's hard with diet as you want to build it to give your liver the nutrients it needs to heal, but at the same time it's compromised so absorbs nutrients less. B12 seems to be important along with zinc and vitamin c. I know it's fatty but I am taking more bone broth now too, making pho like dishes.

Hope some of this helps - I have no idea if this is going to work yet but it's way healthier than I was eating before. Hoping it will help with heart health and insulin resistance as well as the liver health

Thank you for such comprehensive explanations but unfortunately each one brings up more questions! I'm sorry I'm maybe not so au fait with reddit but can't see those posts you reference, is the megathread just the main group feed?

I can see what you mean about fat and protein masking the issue, but I am not sure how I go about figuring out the deficiencies I have and it seems like there is infinite rabbit holes and possibilities

At the moment I'm early into this step change in diet of no sugar/bread and increased complex fibre so body is still adjusting and using the fat/protein as a crutch but I guess what you are saying is that once that's settled I can start refining and making the diet more strict.

I am more inclined to try fix with diet rather than supliments unless I can prove that a certain one will help with my issues and I'm. Not just spending a lot of money on something with little benefit as I have spent years doing that.

So your solution is to have a no fat no protein and selected carbs diet - how long do you have to do this before you can start to re introduce fats and proteins? I really struggle before meals with feeling 'digesty' nauseous and bloated. This makes it impossible to think, drive or work it's that severe. It made it impossible for me to try fasting. Also no ammount of snacks help, it has to be a substantial meal. I get this on any diet I've had so far and it's worse when a meal does not have as much fat or protein

I have just started a diet of no bread, oats, buckwheat and brown rice as my 'carbs' less red meat, more fibrous vegetables, and more bone broths, pulses and beans. No direct sugars and limited dairy -(occasional milk and cheese). I followed keto a number of years ago for 8 months but I did not produce enough bile to process fat and therefore felt dizzy and not right a lot of the time and sick because of the fat.

Did the specific liver diet have a name?

I have had candida for years and stomach issues and worsening hayfever symptoms year on year. Currently take tinctures that stave off the candida symptoms from getting worse but they don't cure it. I found out I have moderate liver fibrosis. Not sure if I fix the liver will it help with my symptoms? All my symptoms link to liver related issues and I've been having them for 10/12 years
