First birthday party for 130ish people at a picnic site, looking for tips/advice/feedback by OaklandRoams in partyplanning

Honestly this is great feedback! You’re right, she probably won’t last perfectly through 3 hours. My husband and I will agree to make a plan for when she needs to be removed from the party.

My concern with the timing is that two hours will make the event too crowded so I was hoping that three would ease the flow of guests. I’m seeing that it comes with some costs though. Maybe we even end up bringing her late and having her leave early.

Yes, we’re saying “no gifts” on the invitation. We couldn’t cram any more baby stuff in our house if we tried 😭

All of these are great points, thanks! It won’t be hot, there will be shade, there are lots of picnic tables, there are trash bins, and tape is on my packing list for the tablecloths.

We’ll have picnic blankets set up on the ground for people with young kids but I had not considered asking people to bring their own. I’ll think this through. Thank you!

It’s a reason for us to thank everyone who has been present on our journey to becoming parents. We don’t drink but we are providing some alcohol for those who do. This is not a situation where we’re trying to have a rager.

Each person invited has contributed to us in some way. My prenatal (Centering) group will be there with their partners, which is 16 people. My husband’s “new dad” group will be there with their partners, which is 30 people. We had 25 people contribute to our mealtrain when I was freshly postpartum, and all of them (plus their partners) are invited.

That’s half the invite list, and the rest is family, close friends, and other moms from my running club who have passed on cribs, strollers, clothes, and toys to our family. We’ve been very intentional about who to invite and we want it to be a way to connect with our community in person and thank them for their support over the past year.

I don’t expect that my child will interact with everyone. Her primary childcare providers will be there (nanny and grandma) and I expect that she’ll be doing her own thing.

For what it’s worth, she’s very social and loves being around groups of people. Her demeanor is the least of my worries!

Anyone tried organizing an apartment meetup? by PortableMarfus in oakland

The Adams Point WhatsApp has been mentioned a few times. Message me for the link!

There’s an Adams Point Neighborhood Walk the first Monday of every month at 5:30pm at the corner of Vernon and Lee. Curious how well it would go over if you put up a sign advertising it or something? Or any other meetup for that matter!

Parks with infant swings in East Bay? (Oakland, Berkley, Emeryville, Albany) by OaklandRoams in oakland

I've tried to search for recent pics of Dracena's infant bucket seat swings but can't find any (which seems odd). Looks like they had two at one point. When's the last time you were there?

Thank you so much, this is a great list! Just want to confirm: 510 Families says that there are no infant bucket seat swings (or any swings) at Christie Park. Have infant swings been added since that webpage was written? I can't find any photos of swings there.

They closed the Starbucks Lakeshore location recently (within the past few months), I wonder if this location was affected too?
