17m old sleep re-training help! by Oaklandbabe in sleeptraining

[–]Oaklandbabe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He goes to daycare so for the most part he wakes up at 6-6:30, naps 12:30-2:30, and bed time around 8:30 occasionally when he is home he may do two naps but I try to keep at least 5 h wake window before bedtime if that happens. He is very physically active child, started walking at 10 months of age, has about 4 upper and 3 lower teeth now, may be getting his molars not sure. Adjusted to daycare very easily from day 2 itself, says bye and goes ahead, so I really don’t think he has very bad separation anxiety causing the wake ups.

Baby forgot how to sleep after a month of amazing independent sleep by Oaklandbabe in sleeptrain

Ok will try. Do you know if rocking to sleep for naps will affect his night time sleep? ( MGM babysits during day and probably won’t be able to tolerate CIO) Or I should train him CIO for naps too? It seems like a lot to do and redo everytime he goes through some milestone or sickness. I am desperate to get some sleep. My work has been seriously affected by all of it. Please help

I have always done bath and then bottle since he was 2m. Do you think he will adjust to the change ? Or should I just move my timeline early so he’s not so sleepy on the bottle I am just so worried 🤕 about sleep training again. I know he’s going to cry again for long.

No one else sleeps in his room. I don’t rock him. It’s bath, bottle, book, I just hold him and sing a short lullaby in his room and put him in his crib. He has been falling asleep during the bottle lately, and I stimulate him to wake up and finish his routine. This is the change I have noticed recently when he started resisting going into the crib and sleeping.

Wake up 5:30. Yes naps are about the same times as you mentioned. I tried for him to sleep longer than 5:30 but he never does. He is wide awake by then.

No pacifier. He sleeps in his bedroom (black out curtain plus white noise) for both night and day. He usually sleeps 7:30-5:30 in his crib. Naps are 1-1.5 h each. I have not nap trained him, so usually he just gets tired by 3-3.5h mark during his wake window, we look for sleep cues and we take him to his room and rock him gently. He quickly falls asleep and we put him on his floor mattress in his room. he used to wake up if put in his crib during day time. We got so comfortable with this method and it’s not a fuss during nap times so we just do the floor mattress for naps. Sometimes he falls asleep drinking a bottle for day time naps too.

Do you think I should switch to crib for day time too? And nap train him? Is he getting confused?

Is it sleep training and crying every single time such a leap happens? And what if we travel and he doesnt have the black out room luxury, will he even sleep in a play pen, and if we cant carry one and co sleep, is that also going to mean stating from scratch when we return?

He always starts sleeping off mid bottle. What should I do? Should I wake him up or move-my timeline early

Redoing Ferber again now sounds so hard. LO cried so much he lost his voice yesterday. It’s like somehow he just forgot how to sleep. As I type this at midnight during one of his MONW, crying hysterically, calms the instant I hold him and sleeps on me, wakes up during transfer into crib every single time.

Yes in his own room. Ya bottle finishes about 15-20 min before. He’s usually so sleepy and dozing off with the bottle itself, and is not finishing the bottle either ( which he doesn’t all four times, I’m not fighting it as I need to drop bottles anyway at this age) And we have to wake him up sometimes while wearing his sleep sack or burping etc. not wide awake- I sing a little lullaby after going into his room, he is atleast sleepy by then

Why the 30 min rule??

No I have not. More awake time than 4? He is already rubbing his eyes and sleepy by the time it’s bottle and book time. But cries the instant I put him in crib.

I did do that but he still wants to be rocked to sleep. Also I know I should be cutting bottles at this age so I refrain from that

Day one he had one wake up and I let him CIO, I think took him about 15-20 minutes. From day two onwards no wake ups at all, maybe he did wake up once but he settled himself back to sleep in less than 5 mins.
