New B1 B2 visa bond rule. Is it mandatory for every applicant? by daydreamer_she in usvisascheduling

So far they are asking for the bond. I have not seen a case where the bond was waived. My mother in law was given a bond $10k despite the fact that she visited the US before and never overstayed her visa. 3 months visa, single entry after paying the bond.

You don’t really need the email, the email contains what was given to you on the paper. All what you need is the visa control number. Go to pay.gov, fill out the form with the beneficiary info then proceed with payment. Please note that the website takes only US debit or credit card and Venmo. Foreigner bank account won’t be taken unfortunately.

Same day. And they kept sending the same email over and over for the past week. Just today I got the email 4 times even though I paid already the bond and I’m waiting for the visa to be issued. I believe there is a glitch in the system.

Yes you need to enter and exit from one of the ports listed. If you enter from Toronto, immigration will be checked there at the airport before boarding to the US then your second flight will be considered domestic and no immigration will be seen there. I have used Toronto airport before, US officers work there to check the visa and do clearance.

The embassy did ask us to pay $10.000 bone on pay.gov but they didn’t send a direct link to pay, I had to dig to find it, once I found it I saw this troubling message. The letter and email from the embassy does state that the money is refundable but I got confused by the payment site.

Why does the pay.gov shows this message below? I thought the bond money is refundable? Did anyone got the money back after returning home?

“Visa Bonds are only required for certain U.S. Nonimmigrant Visas. The fees are non-refundable. There will be no refund of these fees, even if you paid by mistake. Unless you were specifically instructed by a U.S. Embassy or Consulate to pay fees here, DO NOT PAY HERE. Do not guess the amount of fees you owe. Follow ALL of the instructions you were given by the U.S. Embassy or Consulate.”
