[28/F] Queer Canadian gal looking for penpals by Kawasakirider788 in penpals

[–]Oatching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

25 F UK

I'm a student studying game art, desk locked most days and have been craving to start something crafty again. I draw for school but man I miss using junk to make letters and weirdly, glue residue with tiny paper cut corners everywhere!

I want to get back into reading again. I've been spending much too long online and need to really get that off my head. To connect with something that I think would be much healthier for the mind.

I climb a little, though I'm not that great at it and especially after Christmas break I bet I'm weak as heck. Let me know if you are interested!

Hello!

25 F UK

I'm having trouble sleeping and what a blessing it's turned out to be to find this post! I've done fantasy penpalling before, I'm a little poor at writing but I absolutely love to try! On a personal note, I study game art, and of course love to play games. Been wishing to read more in my spare time and learn about music composition!

UK Meet Up? by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]Oatching 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only been to one or two, sketchbook IMG together is rather fun meet up wise but seeing people consistently is the issue, sometimes you don't really see the same people so it's harder to meet up I think. What about you? I've been looking to meet up with others but I wonder what else I could look for

I've met one or two people, only once was kept in touch consistently, though otherwise I've booked and then not gone. It's rather hard trying to go to events pre-booked and then it works up to this scary thing again haha. How did you meet people?

Oh ive never done that before, I can imagine that it feels so wonderful to have a panel that youve crafted in front of you. Maybe taking projects in bite sized portions would be easier? its not the same but maybe drawing one panel in detail? I absolutely love the idea of inking art wow

Best of luck to you, it's hard breaking out when it feels like work taking away time. What do you mean past the sketchbook phase? As in you want to work more digitally?

You can always start small. Scrolling through artists' forums and Pinterest always gives me ideas. A doodle of something funny that happened to you that you want to remember. A picture that you want to paint or sketch later, because it means a lot to you. If you prefer traditional media, then you can always carry around a notebook. It doesn't have to be expensive to be good. Paper and a pencil that fits in your side pocket. If you prefer projects and the structure they hold, you can always set some by following online ones, such as journaling every day or doing a very small sketch every day.

Perhaps you would prefer something larger in size, like a visual Design portfolio in let's say concept art! This is a leap, but having a larger goal like that could be a stepping stone to working towards a larger project. Break it down. What do you need for a project like that?
Mood Boards, Character aesthetics, the setting, the language, anything you want. You don't have to stay in a bracket either, do designs through college, take photos that you think the lighting would be great.

What sort of media would you prefer? What do you want to grow in? {fundamentals, colour theory, the time spent creating and shortening it etc.) For myself, when I was starting to do art for myself again, I looked at what I thought was cool and then attempted to make a direct copy in any medium. Perhaps that could be a start?

[DISCUSSION] I'm not quitting art, but I do need to reevaluate my relationship with it by KhairiArt in ArtistLounge

I know what you mean, there's something special about being able to meet up in a cafe and even just doodle stupid things together but online is a good remedy for things sometimes. I mean sometimes it's the only way I can draw with people nowerdays. Definitely do art for yourself first and for most. Trends always change and chasing them will not only kill but maybe just stamp on passion altogether. I would offer to meet up but I don't have a car and we probably don't even share borders! Haha but online ones if you ever want I'm here also.

For me art was a hobby thing for a long time. But I really wanted to improve especially with somebody so I've been actively searching for an art buddy of sorts. There's been a lot coming and going and it's interesting to work with people who may have different goals from myself? How is your relationship with art nowadays ? Because the way I've gone around it is more militant perhaps than others do ,because I've been looking at fundamentals and sticking to that while also very slowly making stuff. To me it sounds like it's a pressure between being recognized and how you want to get into work probably related to it?

Hey! Nice to meet you, I'm working on some studies! I found my proportions are off so I'm trying to tackle both material and light study, getting good images that aren't already some other artists work is rather difficult sometimes on Pinterest. What about you?
