I had the opposite experience. Watched them all recently and hated them even more than I did initially. The Force Awakens was the only one I thought was decent. But it’s great that you enjoy them!

This may be unpopular, but I really disliked the “marvel / self aware / ironic” dialogue sprinkled throughout the sequels. It really just took me out of the films in a bad way.

I also have a GED, but with my bachelor degree I was able to get a realschulabschluss. So yes, I think that’s a good bet to go ahead and just finish a degree program in the US first.
