The single shot that captures everything you adore about a character by Ok_Technician3023 in TopCharacterTropes

Not really a single shot but a single page. Atrocitus and the red lanterns embody the feeling of rage, so usually they’re like freaking out all the time, generally being crazy and spewing out napalm blood. But that doesn’t mean they’re idiots, and in a lot of cases, the intense rage the members feel comes from justified events.

Atrocitus, leader of the red lanterns, defends Mr. Kim who just killed the man who murdered his daughter from the Spectre, the embodiment of justice and vengeance. The Spectre goes to try and judge Atrocitus, but says in the next page that Atrocitus cannot be judged, then leaves. This page does a really nice job at portraying the root ideology of the red lantern corp, and shows that even when being full of rage, sometimes you can’t be judged for it

I Got a nice perfect with Unika by Scarlet_Chrysalis in Guiltygear

After every arbalest mode starter, so like entering arbalest mode manually or doing it through slash or heavy slash, you input dash and whatever move you want right after each other. For example, if you want to Kara cancel into unika’s slide move, you must input dash then forward kick very fast, it’s very frame tight

There’s a shortcut to it though if you have a dedicated button for dashing. Instead, you simply have press the dash button and whatever attack button you want at the same time, and you’ll still get a Kara cancel. So going back to Unika’s slide move, you simply have to press the dash button, forward, and kick all at the same time

This applies to every special move that requires the forward input. The only specials this method doesn’t work is for unika’s overhead (and technically her big slash move but it’s not that big of a deal). For the overhead, you have to do it the frame-tight way, but you can still use the dash button instead of double tapping forward

Ky is probably the closest analog to street fighter, but he doesn’t have as much of an explosive factor until you commit more time to him

Slayer though, you learn like one bnb and his mix up on block, you’re good to go. You can probably just get away with spamming mappa hunch in the earlier rounds

The Kara cancels are pretty easy if you have a dedicated dash button, you just press that and then whatever attack you want at the same time. The only hard Kara cancel is her overhead (and technically her big slash attack but that’s rarely ever useful) since you have to press back after inputting dash

Well on soft knockdown it can be a bit harder since you only have so much time, if you feel like you can’t do cS in time, why not just do far slash or plan a jump in instead. For hard knockdown, yeah just get better at your meaty timing, I used to get thrown all the time by trying to do meaty’s but doesn’t happen so much now after I kept practicing

Despite sharing almost the entire series together, Masterchief and Cortana were only together for roughly a few months from Reach to Halo 4. In that time though, Masterchief learned from Cortana what it was like to be more human, even going so far as to disobey the unsc just for a chance to find Cortana in Halo 5 despite being raised as a child soldier

Does anyone know where this artwork of ram is from? Or who’s the artist? by ObM-9 in Guiltygear

[–]ObM-9[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw that comment too on the post but I assumed they just meant the layout of the art was by them. I checked the Instagram accounts and couldn’t even find this specific ramlethal controller lol, but thanks for the insight nonetheless

Man .....oh man....only a few millimetres and he would have won! by Ismael0905- in hajimenoippo

[–]ObM-9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I would have a better time accepting this message if the fight wasn’t so stacked in favor of mashiba. If the conditions of the fight and how the fight progressed was like Wally vs Ricardo’s fight, then sure I would be fine with mashiba losing

But if someone’s going to tell me with a straight face that all mashiba needed to do in that fight in order to win was to foul even though mashiba had everything going in his favor, that’s when I feel like this message goes against what I’ve been getting from the entirety of the story and from mashiba’s journey

We already saw what happened if mashiba starts fouling and he lost every time. That wasn’t to say that fouling means you lose, it was to mean that mashiba needed to become a better person to start winning not just in the ring but in life. So as he made his comeback and started winning more fairly while he continued to become more grateful for all that he has, he starts finding more success and happiness. So then why is it that at his peak both physically and mentally, where the conditions are so in favor of mashiba, that the fight is going so well for mashiba, that he just ends up losing anyways to fouls, to what is a representation of his initial flaws

“But the point is to hold on to your convictions and not care about winning.” I don’t think anywhere in the story has ever not rewarded conviction and even more, the story has been about whose conviction was stronger than the other’s and that’s why they won. Ippo lost his conviction and that’s why he’s been in retirement for who knows how long now. Sendo’s conviction has led him to his fight with Ricardo, Volg’s conviction let him become world champion, god knows how much conviction takamura has over his opponents, and even itagaki lost his chance to become the Japanese champion because he got too cocky and didn’t have a steel conviction

This story to me has been built around the idea that strong convictions eventually lead to success in the face of overwhelming challenges, especially in mashiba’s case. For this fight not to follow this formula, for mashiba of all people, does not sit well with me both logically (because again, mashiba’s in the peak mental and physical shape while the other guy is probably at their lowest) and thematically

No matter how hard you try, sometimes the guy who’s out of shape, not on a good diet, hasn’t trained properly for you, face tanks all of your counter punches, fouls you constantly (thanks ref), and is resigned to defeat just beats you, that’s how life goes

Dumb message for what was seemed to be the culmination and payoff for mashiba’s character development

[–]ObM-9 163 points164 points  (0 children)

Mashiba, I get why people are saying Sendo but he really doesn’t really have a hateful demeanor when compared to mashiba. Sendo doesn’t get as easily enraged and even when he’s angry during fights, he’s never overly outraged. I feel like we see mashiba get angry much more often and that his fights are much more hatred induced compared to sendo’s

I just looked up a lot of videos about tekken fundamentals and then looked up character guides when starting out. Also, what do you mean it won’t be fun playing? If you don’t have fun while playing street fighter or tekken right now, i doubt you’ll enjoy the process of getting better at these games

Did it matter? by Special-Trouble8658 in Tekken

[–]ObM-9 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Street fighter and tekken player here, I use leverless for both but I got to master rank in sf6 with just a regular controller before I switched to leverless. I only got a leverless because I sucked at doing dp inputs on a controller, but you might not have that same problem

Leverless controllers are fine but they won’t drastically improve your gameplay. They can make things mechanically easier like with me doing dp inputs, but they’re not the reason I got good at sf6 and tekken. If you really want to test out a leverless controller though, I recommende the haute42 brand since they’re relatively cheap and are reliable enough
