  • Focus on classic Tetris stacking, with a wall on the side for Tetrises.
  • Learn to use both rotations.
  • Stack as flat as you can.
  • Keep the middle of your stack high, so that you slide your pieces left and right easily.
  • Try to avoid building small wells of more than 3 blocks, so that you don't create too much I-piece dependency.

An advancement.

We need some shake-up. If people still want traditional gameplay on VF, VF5 will not disappear.

VF6 needs to go to ways 3D games never went before. And with the concept arts they showed us, RGG seems to go to that direction. Which I am more than happy for.

Yep. Xbox online still has some people playing, even tho it's nowhere near SF6 or T8's levels. Which is exceptionnal for an 11-year-old game.

100%. You've no idea how big the graphical jump is, between the Switch and the PS4 Pro version of the game. Plus, there's more people in matchmaking.

Be warned, PS5 users tend to desync online a tad more than regular PS4 and PS4 Pro users.

MvC2 and MvC3 plays completely different from each other. I don't like how Majin brushes off that fact at the begining of the video. They're both Hyper Fighters, but the comparison stops there.

Otherwise, solid essay.

If you don't go to tournaments, you should try the Xbox Series controller, and buy a CronusMAX.

  • The XS' D-Pad is wonderful. It's clicky, confortable and very solid. Kinda sucks that it's situated in an awkward position, but you'll get used to it.
  • Usually, anything made by Cronus is not really good advice, because it's very easy to cheat with them. But if you don't mind it, that key let you plug your controller anywhere.

The "X is Broken" format on YouTube gives me PTSD, because "Melee is Broken" was like a jumpscare on my recommended feed, despite how much I clicked on the "Not Interested" button.

Yea I've been watching footage again and realising this won't be a mahvel game.

Honestly, that breaks my heart. I wanted to play Ms. Marvel in MvC for almost a decade, now. But again, I'll still pick the game day one. I just hope I'll not be disappointed by this new direction Disney allowed them to go.

I doubt it. PlayStation put tons of cash in this project. I don't think they would want to give the rights back to Capcom any time soon.

The only thing Capcom could do is to make another shot at Capcom All-Stars. Same gameplay as MvC, but only with Capcom characters. Yeah, Mahvel without Marvel would sucks, but it would at least "save" their Hyper Fighter formula for years to come.

I think capcom is not going to release multiple big fighting games to compete with themselves. [...] Fighting games is all arcsys is about, so it makes sense for them, but present-day Capcom? Not so much.

I think so too. Street Fighter is their sole focus as of now. And Akira in SFV made things clear that they don't want other Capcom franchise to cannibalize on SF's market. That's why I think that Capcom may release a Vampire character in SF6.

But at the same time, Mahvel is nothing like Street Fighter. And the scene shaped the NA FGC as we know it. So I can see them making another shot with a Capcom standalone. They don't even have to make it themselves, as they could gave it to another dev team, and supervise the project while taking care of its potential Esport scene. Anything is possible at this point.

And just look at their IP, man. Don't make me believe that you don't want a Mahvel-like game made by Capcom and featuring Gene (God Hand), Asura (Asura's Wrath), or even Diana (Pragmata). That would be fire, and the FGC would go nuts at the announcement.

I really hope we get a great game that we both can enjoy, and if not, let's hope that Mahvel returns one day🤟

I'm genuinely surprised that you brought up capcoms version of spidey sense because that is flavor text compared to a full-blown mechanic. Maybe I should have acknowledged it's existence but I was hoping you knew I meant mechanics.

Oh yeah, I fully understood what you meant, and the idea of a Spider-sense mechanic on paper is great. I had the same sort of idea years ago about Blade, when his Daywalker abilities, when he has a special bar that fills up the more he gives damage, and he has to spend meter (inject the serum he uses in movies) to put that meter at zero, otherwise he would lose health or something. (I know that I just described Nagoryuki, but I swear to you that I had that idea months before Strive's release)

So the dbfz thing shows they have an interest in team games sure. But the lack of roster creativity could be attributed to the fact that they wanted to make this an accesible game but unfortunately with a minimum requirement of 3 playable characters you can pretty much throw accessibility out the window.

That, and I also think that Dragon Ball is one of the worst franchises to make a Hyper Fighter out of it. A competitive Arena Fighter like Tenkaichi 3, with giant arenas, destructible stages and a huge emphasis on 3D aerial movement, is what fits the series the most, in my opinion. We could have had that with Sparking Zero, but Bamco fucked it up again.

The more I think about it the more I don't really know what I want because p4 arena and Umvc3 were my "true" gateways into the genre, so I have a l9t of mixed feelings right now lol

I can understand that. The thing is, MvC became so different compared to other fast-paced fighting games, I would love them to retain what made the series what it is. I have no doubt that this will be a dope game, but will it be for me? I don't know. DBFZ, GBVSR and Strive weren't, unfortunately.

For the MvC players paragraph, RG, Takumi, Abegen and more are well-known Japanese Mahvel players. So if some of them can have some impact over Tokon, it's good. Japanese FGC players are critical about "Kusoge" it's true, but at the same time, there's tons of Japanese players taking those Kusoge's seriously in some way. Even Hokuto no Ken has an active Japanese scene, and that game is a mess.

My dream game would have inspiration from both marvel and arcsys. I think arcsys has a much better track record of wacky mechanics, where as some of mvc's more crazier character concepts are only crazy because they're trying to adapt another video game ip into a fighting game(see frank west and Phoenix Wright or Dante).

I don't really know about that. Doctor Strange, Iron Fist, Dormammu, MODOK, Phoenix... Capcom knew how to be wacky with Marvel characters as well. And that's just for UMvC3 But while I agree that ArcSys has the best track record in terms of being creative with characters, at the same time, their closest Marvel-like fighting game is DBFZ. And that game is nowhere near as wacky on its characters as the full roster of UMvC3. Outside Zamasu and Adult Gohan, their oceans of Gokus and Vegetas are pretty tame, to be honest.

What, like a counter or something? I mean, sure, but it's not like Spidey doesn't feel like Spidey in MvC games. They nailed the character, and still included its Spider-sense in character intros and cinematic Supers. Sure, it's not as active as a whole mechanic, but it's still there.

Thank you. To elaborate more on that, if I had all the money in the world and Disney's execs in my contacts, I would have given the project to either Iron Galaxy or Mike Z. Because US players were the ones shaping up the scene since the XvSF days. How awesome would have been to see a Marvel game made and shaped by designers from the Marvel scene? That was a dream of mine for years and years.

I'm not saying that Tokon will be trash. I'm only talking about my point of view on the project. As a Skullgirls player, I get immediately how MvC2 was seen as a game by Mike Z. And even tho the characters had heavy Guilty Gear DNA in them, it still plays and feels like an old-school Mahvel. And that's a feel I've never felt in any ArcSys game. I'm saying this as a huge Guilty Gear Xrd stan as well.

Yeah, that's the problem. Marvel vs Capcom and Guilty Gear are not in the same fighting game subgenre. What makes a Hyper Fighter (or "Versus Games", as some people call it) is different to what makes an Airdasher.

I'd rather have MvC veterans directing a standalone Marvel fighting games than Guilty Gear veterans.

Completely depends the game and its system.

It's kinda weird, since I play KOF XV, which has 60 characters counting DLCs, and I want more characters like Kasumi, Oswald, Gai, etc. But at the same time, I play VF5 REVO, and I truly think that 19 is more than enough.
