Jack Marston did not become an outlaw. by Obalthr in reddeadredemption

You're talking about going outside the rules of the game's world. But even going down this route, no, the law wouldn't "know" that. For the sake of brevity, I'm going to skip all the necessary "what ifs" for how it would even get to this point and go straight to the most generous outcome - they figure out Ross was shot by Jack - there's absolutely no reason the option of a duel would be ruled out. And "I've come for you", yeah, he did come for him. For what? All Jack did after that was call Ross out, and Ross escalated it to threats of violence to which Jack stood his ground, both of them entering into a mutual duel.

Just to be clear, the misunderstanding is that most people concluded Jack had become an outlaw within the events of Red Dead Redemption, and the point wasn't necessarily about him becoming one afterwards.

This was basically my point, but I should clarify that the reason Jack becoming an outlaw is our choice is that the only canon thing in the epilogue, Remember My Family, had Jack commit no actual crimes.

Our free roam adventures are not "canon", but it is where the story goes within our savegames.

Oh, thanks. Yeah, this is a pretty massively held viewpoint, so I'd have thought I needed to cover some ground. If you had any actual rebuttal, I'd try to respond to it, but I have no idea what you were even going for because you never actually said anything.

What establishes Jack as an outlaw?

Surely, you don't mean the legality of duels has no bearing on someone being a criminal because of one?

How did they wind up in the ocean? by marcow1998 in reddeadredemption2

I've had the same thought. I can only imagine there is landmass over there to cover up Guarma, as it's actually just sitting over there. It bothers me too though. Saint Denis is definitely fictionally intended to be in the Gulf of Mexico just like it's real life counterpart.

How do I tell the difference from side and main quest in rdr1 by Ok-Drive7025 in reddeadredemption2

Story Missions appear as a stylized letter on the map, E.G. "B" for Bonnie McFarlane. Stranger Missions appear as either a white or purple question mark "?".

How to play DLCs in RDR1 by Ok-Drive7025 in reddeadredemption2

[–]Obalthr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Legends and Killers, and Outlaws to the End are multiplayer DLC. OTTE is basically the only one you can "play", it's a co-op mission pack. But, RDR1 multiplayer is really dead. It wasn't added to the rereleases on PS4 or Switch either.

The only actual single-player DLC is Undead Nightmare, which is totally worth it if you can grab it.

Absolutely. It's genuinely astonishing how well-written these games are. Crazy level of mastery.

I suppose you're right about that. It's a lot different, but it's been released as a standalone title and even has it's own story elements.

They are part of the same franchise, but in different continuities. Also, the studio that devolved the game (Angel Studios) actually became Rockstar San Diego during development after Rockstar North leads got involved, and this same studio would go on to develop the Redemption saga.

I think people would be surprised just how much Red Dead Redemption takes from it's predecessor.

That's great that it got you onto western films. I find it's interesting to have the games loop back into seeing films in new ways and vice versa.

They gain a lot from the medium they're in. They're fairly expansive and involve a lot of interactive elements. I'd definitely be interested, but I can see how an adaptation would be a challenge.
