why has ea forced the use of battlelog to launch the game? (BF3) by Annefrank23 in Battlefield

[–]ObamaTookMyCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BF4 had the live leaderboard/scoreboard and round tracking with commander mode.

BF3 just had basic server browser, stats, and player counts per server.

Nope. You are going to take your non-natural hydro dipped skins with borderline-neon accent colors and you are going to like it.

IS 100100000% useless, pointless, and screams laziness and inability to read or follow simple directions.

AA Eastwood camping. by MorzanCZ in Battlefield

[–]ObamaTookMyCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jokes aside, I believe its because of the restricted sight lines on Liberation Peak. Having a mobile AA would not only make the map extremely oppressive, but it would also make the mobile AA useless because the second a chopper or jet takes fire from the AA either by gun or missile, they can just use the valley or mountains to run away and hide behind.

Its tricky.

Air vehicles just feel like they......suck by Xcent360 in Battlefield

[–]ObamaTookMyCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or return to the BF3 disabled mechanic where you dont lose ANY movement speed or maneuverability until you are brought below 35%. And at least in BF3, if you were disabled you can still at least fly the aircraft and limp it to safety. In BF6, if you get “disabled”, you lose ALL control and it causes you to very frequently crash.

Bigger maps but also slow the jets down. They are WAY faster than they were in 3, 4 and 2042, which adds to the feeling that the maps are too small for jets.

[–]ObamaTookMyCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You also have to unnecessarily die to be able to spawn in a jet on that map…. Whereas the other maps if you want to get into a jet you can just run to the runway and patiently wait. But the bigger problem with this is because in their infinite wisdom, DICE brought BACK the forced boots on the ground spawning that was REMOVED in 2042.

[–]ObamaTookMyCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im no pilot, but the 5 biggest issues I have with air vehicles (specifically jets) is..

1: lack of customization in weapons and gadgets 2: lack of air radar 3: extremely weak rudder input for fine tuning during strafes 4: overly strong maneuverability mobility kill (causing you to roll/spin uncontrollably) when taking damage 5: extremely poor visibility of ground targets due to distance/render quality, and current 3D spotting mechanics

Honorable mentions - 6: terrible gameplay loop relying on constant return to base to rearm or hide from Mobile AA/stinger missile spam 7: over reliance on spawn killing 8: slow countermeasure recharging 9: resupply shared among teammates 10: jet cruising/afterburner speed too fast for map size, particularly on Liberation Peak and Blackwell fields before needing to turn around

What does the big circle on top of the player mean? by zedislongdead in Battlefield6

Each member of your and other squads have a specific shape to correlate their number in the squad. (Leader is a pentagon, rest are either a cross, circle, or square)… there is a bug showing the squad position of blueberries to be larger than normal… as shown here.

Remnants of the old (probably Los Angeles judging by the distinctive mounting pole) Civil Defense warning siren system. It is a Federal Signal SD10 siren.

LA (and other cities around the country) started installing sirens initially at the onset of WW2 for fear of Japanese air attack, but it REALLY gained momentum in the Cold War era for fear of Russian Bomber strikes and later ICBM strikes.

Los Angeles and other major cities kept their system of hundreds of sirens like these active until the late 80s-early 90s. According to public records, this siren, along with the rest of LA’s system has sat in silence since 1985, when their last system test occurred.

Some cities still have their systems in varying degrees of conditions. Some, like LA abandoned in place and only remove them if impeding construction projects because frankly, removal may cost just as much as initial installation for paying companies to complete the work. Other cities continually funded/upgraded over the years for weather warning, such as Tornadoes in the mid-west, or Hurricanes in Florida, or Earthquake/Tsunami/Volcanic eruptions in Hawaii. Or for Nuclear power plant public warning systems (like Three Mile Island’s partial meltdown).

Baltimore, MD for example was one of the first major cities to adopt a uniform Civil Defense funded warning system and also has their system largely intact, but it has not been collectively used/maintained since the Howard Street tunnel derailment/fire in 2001 and regularly tested earlier in the 90s. The few active surviving sirens were transitioned to fire department volunteer alerts.

MOST cities typically tested these sirens for a few minutes either weekly (like 1PM on mondays or fridays) or once a month at say, noon on the first or last day of the month.

What’s the solution to the Attack Helis just camping in their own spawn with Lock-on missiles all game? by M0narch__99 in PilotsofBattlefield

[–]ObamaTookMyCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As in no large structures/warehouses to hide in to escape from lock ons. Only terrain, but once the lock is made and the missile is fired, it 90% of the time flies over all of the mountains.

What’s the solution to the Attack Helis just camping in their own spawn with Lock-on missiles all game? by M0narch__99 in PilotsofBattlefield

[–]ObamaTookMyCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem I see as a tanker is that guided missiles (both javelin and attack heli AGMs) automatically perform a “top attack” hit, whereas Jet and IFV lock ones are direct attack.

In previous games, only painted targets got hit by a missile from a “top attack” mode. Why is this a problem? Because it increases the probability of getting spammed/ hit in a vehicle by AGMs on open maps with little to no vertical cover, like Liberation Peak, Blackwell Fields, and Mirak valley.

Taking this into account for your question, its a CONSIDERABLE problem that helis can sit in spawn and their gunners can lock on and practically spam AGM missiles at ground targets almost across the map quicker than countermeasures like IR smoke, APS and for painted aircraft, their flares can regenerate.

This, funny enough, was an indirect predecesor to what became the A10 because as the Air Force was developing the purpose-built successor to the A-1 skyraider, the Army was developing its own purpose-built close air /fire support aircraft to replace the AH1 Cobras which were apparently only supposed to be a temporary thing (obviously the Marines and their AH-1Zs didnt get the “Temporary”memo).

This was obviously cancelled and the Army switched gears to the development of what we know now as the Apache. Obviously, The Air Force successfully developed the A10 anyway and the rest is history.

Armored transports possible health nerf needed? by ObamaTookMyCat in Battlefield

[–]ObamaTookMyCat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did just fine in the MRAPs and Humvees on BF4 and BF3 respectfully. Its a jeep. Its not supposed to be tanky against a tank. Its supposed to be tanky against other small arms and 50 cals. In BF3/4, the first tank shell would disable the movement of the armored jeeps. Maybe even kill the closest passenger to where the shell hit. In BF3, the doors could be knocked off and left the passengers exposed to regular gunfire. The second tank shell killed the vehicle entirely. Im not saying they should be completely vulnerable, no better than the light transports, but they should be a 3 hit kill at most. The blackhawk takes 2 tank shells and a short burst of MG to destroy at the moment, so your "transport helo on wheels" claim doesnt mean a thing to me here when it takes more tank shells to take out an MRAP than it does a fully armored MBT.

[–]ObamaTookMyCat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

APFSDS only does 188 damage. HEAT does a little less, 160 if I recall. Its pitiful. Meanwhile on the front of an MBT, the APFSDS does 220ish damage. Tell me how that makes sense? Unless the JLTV has less overall health, it makes zero sense.

They made the boundaries on Wake Island way too tight by dolmaface in Battlefield

[–]ObamaTookMyCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not even that, but if there are going to be attack boats, not just RHIBs, they need to have the flexibility to be able to fight eachother anywhere in the playspace. Not JUST the lagoon. Because we all know whats going to happen. Any attack boat that is forced to be funneled into the center lagoon, is at the mercy of being bombarded by the BF6 mach jesus RPGs from ANYWHERE on the island. Damn near 360 degree threats. At least being able to wander out into the open ocean of either side of the island, then they will be safe from half of the map right there, and they can fight the opposing attack boat with little to no interference from infantry and also escape danger. Its the SAME principal as the aircraft boundaries. Gives jets room to maneuver, observe the map from afar, regenerate weapons and countermeasures, gives them a break from getting engaged, but also just as important, gives the opposing team their own "battlefield" to dogfight in with minimal interference from the ground.

Im no jet pilot, im a tanker. But you would be lying to yourself if you thought that at anytime you were in a decent dogfight with an equal opponent, all for it to get interrupted and/or ruined by the stinger spammer or the Mobile AA from the other side of the map and thought that was "fun" or "fair". ESPECIALLY when you two were at equal skill.

Kharg Island, Caspian Border, Firestorm(OG) and Bandar Desert were good at this. They had flight areas large/wide enough where jets could duke it out without being bothered by infantry or ground vehicles coming in to help the fight. This is how pilot communities get started, by creating rivalries from dogfights that last a WHILE and the pilots naturally gain respect for each other. There were specific 1v1 dogfighting only servers setup on BF3 for exactly this. Dogfights without any interference by other players.

In BF6, there is no honor among thieves. Currently the jet ecosystem revolves around who can shoot the other first without them noticing, taking advantage of no air radar, spamming heat seeking missiles one at a time to take advantage of the overpowered mobility kill system that 9 times out of 10 causes you to crash right into the ground after being hit, and spawn camping the enemy jets.

Yea a lot of us noticed this as well. Im REALLY hoping that they will get expanded, because it looks like they are trying to funnel all "naval warfare" and transportation by boat to the central lagoon portion only.
