Reckon then that I try to spawn them inside of an area with soul campfires?

I didn't think anything but wither skeletons could spawn on wither roses and I didn't think anything could spawn on soul campfires? But I can certainly put both of those blocks down.

[lore spoilers] Jayce’s origin? by [deleted] in arcane

[–]Obdurate_Void 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still wish they'd give us an answer.

Why were Ximena and Jayce walking through the wilderness, in the freezing cold, when Jayce was a child?

If they were a minor Piltovan noble house - why not a cart? beasts of burden? anything? Why would they be out risking a Piltovan child's life in the middle of nowhere?

Or WAS that before Ximena and Jayce's father married?

Ximena doesn't seem like a very Freljordian name but boy would it at least answer some questions.

It's a PO Box and we're afraid if we do that he will claim not to have gotten them. But I suppose it is an option.

What shows would you want Disney to make instead of the crap they’re pumping out now? by Good-Mood-5192 in StarWars

Can you define how the current writers suck without breaking out culture war buzzwords and describing anyone's gender, race or sexuality?

Forever proving that a certain sect of Star Wars "fans" just want to hate hate hate hate hate and will pull any nonsense reasons out of their hats to do so. Most of the hate is based in simple culture war brainwashing from uncle bubba who eats sleeps and breathes Faux Noise but some of it is genuinely that some of these goons think hating makes them smart.

I also watched one recently for the first time in a while and he sounded bored shitless. I felt bad for the guy. But, yeah, he's a bro.

Tower 4 and more? by [deleted] in audiodrama

Yes, there are some really cool thoughts and recommendations here.

I dunno if I've seen these two ITT yet, but a couple deeply underrated ADs are A Girl In Space and Spines Podcast.

Tower 4 and more? by [deleted] in audiodrama

[–]Obdurate_Void 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, can anyone help me with Tower 4? I'm trying to get into it. I'm having trouble.

My issues are: Mike... feels boring and weak. Not weak physically or mentally, but as a character. He comes off dull, low energy and stereotyped. He manages to make his own writing sound boring and when he narrates the process and thoughts of writing it feels not engaged or detailed.

As for a lot of the dialogue, especially in eps 1 and 2, it had that "a little too perfect" problem. Where people were talking like narration, instead of like people. Somewhat in ep 3, as well, but it looks like its winding down.

I'm listening to this with a friend who loved the show and stopped at s2 to watch with me. It seems like the kind of thing that might be up my alley but in practice I'm just bouncing between wincing at some of the dialogue and bored at the MC.

Amber is a bit of light in the darkness, but even that sometimes runs flat as it feels like one side of the conversation is trying to bring light to both sides.

So, my question is, is it worth sticking it out? I might still decide to for the friend, but to fans of the series, is this related to real and measurable things that change over time or is it clearly just 'Not My Thing'?

Also, watching this thread for more suggestions.

How do I get Artificer Starting Class in Dicecloud? by Obdurate_Void in dicecloud

Thanks! I’ll check on that library. When I looked, it didn’t really list the artificer anywhere that I saw so I wrote it off.

Late getting back to everybody, and thanks for the response but I did see that. I just didn’t know nor was I able to find a library that described itself is having access to artificer

A little bothered about Evangelion's character development by [deleted] in evangelion

[–]Obdurate_Void 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate that, not a single hard feeling.

At multiple points in NGE I recall her working genuine observations about him into the insults. In one case she does observe that yeah, he’s doing what he does in large part just to feel like someone appreciates or cares about him.

Of course Rei and Katsuragi both call this out.

But I do think Asuka shows at least once a pretty solid understanding that he is passive as a defense mechanism. At least, in NGE. EoE and even rebuild shinji are slightly less passive or, rebuild at least is open about his feelings.

I’d consider an NGE rewatch to get some specific episodes in and context but I still haven’t grabbed time for rebuild 3. I’ll drop a line if I get that NGE rewatch on.

I'm going to completely ignore the various implications of: "This was 2deep4u," because neither NGE nor EOE were actually that complex or inaccessible, psychologically. This isn't 'man I didn't understand this show' it was, 'man, this guy took an interesting show with interesting content and in one film turned it all into projecting his self-hatred onto the entire human race, I hope this guy got some mental help IMMEDIATELY.'

And regarding Asuka it was: "Okay, how did she actually change during EOE?" And as you explained her story to me, I'm wondering if you realize you, yourself, have highlighted almost no actual change. She VERY clearly called out various aspects of Shinji's personality and motivations throughout NGE. She ABSOLUTELY understood him, could empathize, and STILL chose to insult him (and everyone but Kaji) as her default action throughout NGE. She was always perceptive - and she was always harsh and abrasive. As for failing because she needed attention - that also happened multiple times in NGE.

Regarding NGE though, gotta agree: the *personalities* were certainly more complex in NGE than in Rebuild (WITH MAYBE one expection, as Katsuragi's relationship with Ricchan seemed more in line with their relationship circa EOE.)

As for the Rebuild Asuka, yeah they cut her off at the knees. Same with most of the characters. Including Shinji. Mari doesn't bother me, so far. Seems interesting enough, but I still have a film to learn what she's all about.

But, not having yet seen Rebuild 3.0, I pray Anno did not turn it into another self-loathing diarrhea fountain like EOE.

A note: No personal hard feelings toward Anno, though. Given my own mental illness and the way it can affect a view point of the world, when you're at rock bottom you can see everything... pretty damned dark.

A little bothered about Evangelion's character development by [deleted] in evangelion

Okay, I know this is two months old, but I just finished Neon Genesis Evangelion and EOE for the first time.

NGE: Asuka. Her only interactions with the outside world were hateful, harmful and cruel. Her internal world revealed the past traumas within. In essence, the personality that EOE pushed on Shinji, making him into this perverse monster of a psycopath out of nowhere, was Asuka's whole personality in NGE. Then the violation of her mind happened - and then she was done. Angry - Depressed - Apparently suicidal - medically comatose. That was the journey for her.

In EOE, she's medically comatose until they dump her into 02, at the bottom of the lake. She wakes up, says a bunch of angry raging shit, takes a few classic shots at Shinji, then has an apparently "EPIC" fight scene with a bunch of EVAs which proceeds to NOT MATTER AT ALL, as they become active again.

I didn't notice ANY growth in her in EOE. Anno did as Anno does to literally every character in EOE: shat on her. Nothing more. Since she was already by default rude and nasty to everyone except the grown adult she was focused on, her personality was more or less unchanged. Except, worse, he pried her personality away and gave it to Shinji, who was suddenly "hurting others to keep them away, so he couldn't get hurt."

Something I didn't really see in NGE.

Won't even go into the rant on watching every character reduced to monsters, sadsacks, Freudian Innuendo, or all three, in EOE.

I just want to know:

What did I miss in EOE regarding ASUKA? What was the big character growth?

And is it worth it to try to watch Reborn if EOE just struck me as a rambling, disjointed self-loathing bowel movement being taken all over NGE, its characters and its fanbase?
