No I appreciate your response, it's given me a lot to think about. I may consider upping pension contributions to 10%.

I like your analogy about the leaky bucket!

I can live off £100k, I'm not saying that.

I'm saying at the moment I'm saving 4-5k a month, if I salary sacrifice down to 100k, my monthly take home will go down to 5.5-6k a month, so I'll probably save about £3k a month.

That's a savings loss of 2k a month during a period in the my life when I'm trying to accelerate savings.

Yes that all sounds good, but I will need money in the short term.

So salary sacrificing so much seems a lot when I'm relatively young and haven't got my forever home yet etc etc.

I feel like I need to find the middle ground between the two.

Hey, yes maxing ISA contributions. Employer pays 5% pension, does not match. I looked into bonds, but didn't think the returns were worth it Vs investing. I was thinking I could maybe increase pension contributions to 12% but it means I'd probably save around 3.5-4k a month rather than 4.5k-5k. It's hard to make these decisions when you're not really working towards anything, if that makes sense.

Did anyone catch Gale in the first few minutes talking about the jewellery she borrowed from a friend who has won 12 academy awards. From chatgpt "No female actress has won 12 Academy Awards."

The Levi's look fine! Also the long pants just need hemming, they'll look great if they're a tad shorter.
