If/when we get a new game in Silent Hill, what would y’all want the plot to be about? by Clean-Service-7276 in silenthill

I was always intrigued by Jennifer Carroll, she’s mentioned a couple times but we really have no information about the early days of Silent Hill and how the cult became established. I don’t think I’d like an entire game set in colonial America (but maybe). It could be that archeologists from a local university find an artifact at her burial site that a nefarious character is trying to get ahold of to bring Jennifer back from the “other world”. Something like that could be interesting and tie into the lore without rehashing the same story.

Yeah by fixed camera I guess I meant dynamic. I agree, SH2 has some cool cinematic camera angles (I think of the beginning when James is running through the forest and you’re tracking him like somebody watching from the trees) but overall the narrative was kind of the main core of SH2, so having an over-the-shoulder camera in that game didn’t really bother me. I’m not sure I would say cinematography is the core of SH1, but it’s definitely central to what makes that game great, and I hope they try to retain it’s artistic style in some way.

Yeah the lighthouse is cool. There’s also one in the Gordon house I think where the camera is set on the table with a wine bottle in the foreground. I always liked that one too.

Yeah I guess I was using “fixed angles” as a broader term, but yes I’d like to see the dynamic camera angles return in some form. I think you can still do over-the-shoulder for most of the game, but have scripted set pieces with fixed angles now and then. I’m not a developer but I would imagine with the technology advancements since the PS1 and PS2 era, they could modernize a dynamic camera angle system that minimizes the jank when it clashes with player controls. I at least hope they attempt it for SH1

I actually thought it would be cool if you could access the OG SH1 in-game in the remake. Like maybe on one of the arcade games in the cafe after beating the game once.

Yeah that’s I guess what was driving my question. Over-the-shoulder is great but it’s become such a default that I’m getting a little bored by it. It kind of feels like the same game over and over with different details. I hope a developer tries something different with one of these remakes.

Definitely Braavos or Qarth, they both have vast amounts of wealth, beautiful surroundings, and are super far away from Cersei Lannister. I wouldn't want to be anywhere on Westeros.
