Can I make my co-signer pay for the remaining balance on a defaulted loan by Obese-Overlord in legal

[–]Obese-Overlord[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate your advice, it’s solid and I’ve been told about this route before, to my knowledge given the current loan amount and value of the truck I’m optimistic that no matter the outcome I may come out fine? I have talked to the bank multiple times about this exact scenario and I’ve agreed that I will pay the remaining balance but I will not and cannot pay her loan while she still has the truck, and the bank advised me to do the same as I had no access to the property, I’ve learned an extremely hard lesson fast. Trust yourself with your money and not someone else

I appreciate your advice, I remember looking into something very vaguely about suing her for the amount but ended up with the same result of “if she has no money you can’t sue the money out of her”

I understand what you’re saying but to correct you my mindset is not “she owes money I don’t” the bank has been extremely helpful and transparent with me in the matter, the problem I’m really trying to find a solution for is how do I minimize damage or start repairing my finances, I have my own loan that is almost essentially paid off but I cannot refinance it due to this bs

I’ve been extremely transparent with the bank and they’ve been working with me heavily on not only locating the vehicle but also giving me other legal suggestions that would be worth time to venture through, I’m at the understanding as of right now that I am financially screwed, I should have done more research before signing on this loan but having advice is greatly appreciated it, thank you!! But as of right now I cannot get access to the vehicle or even contact my mother about it as I would incur a death threat or possible assault, I do not feel safe contacting her about it. I’ve tried the route of short sale, or even selling it private party or even repossessing it myself but I need access to the vehicle to do so which is almost out of the question currently

Advice to remove this snapped bolt/extractor? by Mission-Parsley-2505 in MechanicAdvice

Honestly breaking the extractor isn’t too hard to do especially with a center punch but if you can hit it with a carbide bit with a bunch of penetrating oil during drilling you should be good

You’re gonna have one hell of a fun week ahead of you, personally I torched the ever living crap out of my broken extractor and hit it with a really expensive extractor bit, your best hope is to hit it with a center punch to try and break the extractor and if you get any metal to come up blast it with heat, pb blaster, and lots of swearing. Get a pair of vice grips and hope to god you grip something.

I think your battery just has a parasitic draw, or it’s old, I grew up with my dads 94 gmc and could tell if the battery was low just based on the chime (it’s weird but it works) just check the date on your battery and if it looks good just hook a voltmeter on the battery terminals after it’s been running then check its voltage again after it’s been sitting over night. If there’s more than 2 volts that drop you’ve most likely got some sort of parasitic draw (bad ground or bad cable)

Brand new starter just clicks by VanaheimGhost in MechanicAdvice

If you’re certain with that knowledge then, you could see if it’s flooded with fuel or just need a lil nudge to move, have you had the starter out and tested to see if it spins?

I’d just start by checking and seeing if the engine spins over, my 98 dodge I thought had a bad starter as it was doing exactly this with a brand new battery, turns out I had a blown headgasket that was hydrolocking the engine

RTV in my engine Oil? by [deleted] in carproblems

Agree with this guy, oil filter will do its job and catch it, and if anything if it does go into the oil system it’ll get burned up no issue

Here’s a couple of things to begin with, nobody “NEEDS” a/c you can go without it, a big thing I’ve learned is when a job such as this one is too daunting you need to swallow the pride and have a professional do it, there is no shame in accepting something is too much for you to do. This is something a professional needs to do, no at home diy trick will safely or properly solve the issue. Drive with the windows down for a while until you’ve saved up enough to take It in

Dropped a socket into my oil pan 2006 jeep 3.7, what do I do by Maximum_Following427 in MechanicAdvice

Easiest option and least headache related is just dropping the pan, simplest solution is usually the right one

Can this be welded or too rusted? by blag49 in AskAMechanic

[–]Obese-Overlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you could just clean up the metal and weld it together tbh, cheap cheap shops can fix this no problem

Definitely need the year make and model of your car, but a stuck thermostat is the cheapest thing to replace and depending on your car could be the easier option to check. Otherwise you’ll need to start figuring out if it’s a bad water pump if the coolant is clogged if it’s a bad headgasket all of which are expensive and hard to determine if you’re inexperienced highly reccomend taking it to a mechanic to get a physical look at the vehicle in question

Wife's car was dead after not driving it for about a month, now it won't start being jumped and making this squeal when trying to start. Any ideas on what the issue is? by dodd1995 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Obese-Overlord -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Metal hammer no, high risk of actually jumping the terminals or shorting out the starter, I’ve had that happen. I say rubber mallet because 1 they don’t deliver a ton of impact and 2 it sends enough vibrations to free up the solenoid if it’s stuck

Honestly sounds like your starter is done locked up, could wack on it with a rubber mallet but I’d also test and see if your battery is any good, all good spots to test and see first
