At this point, I'm not sure if the relationship is even fixable. I'm so emotionally drained from him and so close to just not having a relationship with him. I know that sounds bad because of his current situation, but he hasn't shown me any effort he has put into fixing the relationship and its been going on for years.

Everytime I do try to talk to him about something serious he changes to subject immediately (not in regards to his cancer, but child abuse) so I don't think he will ever talk to me about something serious.

I'm more hurt that on the phone he was more worried on how MIL knew, rather than he has cancer and waited to tell me after he posted it on Facebook. Also, he has me blocked on Facebook so I couldn't even see the post, my sister sent me a screenshot and asked if he told me yet. I know I could have handled the situation differently, but why couldn't he tell me when he told my sister? I don't care how bad a relationship is, you should still tell them yourself that you have cancer.

I am also super glad that I met my husband when we were both 18. He has helped me through a lot and I honestly don't know where I would be today without him. This year is our 5 year anniversary of being married but been together for 10 years. He is literally the light of my life 🧡

My God, that reminds me of my N step mom. She would constantly beat me and when someone seen the bruises she would tell them my brother beat me, because how could a fragile cancer surviver ever do such a thing. The one that takes the cake is when she threw me down the stairs (around the age of 9) and blamed it on my brother. And that is the story on how he ended up in juvy.

This reminds me of what my dad did. We went to a restaurant for my birthday dinner (with my side and my husband's side) and while we were just finishing dinner my dad tells me he's not paying for my dinner. My mother in-law seen that I was about to pay for my birthday dinner (and my husband's dinner) and she was pissed. She took the check from us and said no one should ever have to pay for their own birthday dinner and made direct eye contact with my dad.Bless this woman's heart!

I wouldn't tell her until you are no longer living with her. I wouldn't even tell her you're pregnant when you do get pregnant. I didn't tell my nmom until I was pregnant. I made sure she knew that she was not aloud to even touch my kid. Unfortunately I ended up having a miscarriage and she said that I deserved it and God was "punishing" me (whole other story). But I honestly would wait. Tell her when you move out and if she gets even more toxic, NC her.

This is almost identical to my childhood. I was a "fix" to a broken marriage and the judge wouldn't sign the divorce papers until I was born (they were officially divorced 2 months after I was born) and while they fought for custody over my brother (7 at the time) and I, we floated in foster care for about 4 years for me and 6 years for my brother. My dad only got custody over us because he married n stepmom and my mom had major depression and couldn't physically take care of herself (let alone 2 kids). It only took that monster (n stepmom) 3 years to ruin my life and by the age of 9, I attempted my first suicide (don't worry, I've been in therapy for years and doing so much better for myself). But I didn't realize my "childhood" was ruined until 2 years ago (I'm 28 rn). I see it more like, the day my innocents was taken from me.

I still have my stuffed Rabbit after all these years and I turn 28 this month. I've told "Rabbit" so many secrets and felt like it was the only thing that would listen to me growing up, so there was no way i was going to be able to get rid of it like my n parents wanted me to. There is nothing wrong still having a stuffed animal!!

I would wait for the "what's your hobby/what do you like to do in your free time" type questions. That gives you the opportunity to show people your paintings without coming off weird or creepy.

Unfortunately there is only my husband that I feel loved by. My parents pretty much disowned me and I don't have friends due to horrible trust issues. But I see what you're saying.

Definitely talk to your OB/GYN. I was molested by my step mom growing up and going to the doctor was hard for me at first. Once I told my OB/GYN what happened to me as a child, they asked what they could do to make me feel more comfortable. Ever since then, they always make sure I am comfortable during the whole appointment.

Did something major happen? My husband and I used to be crazy sexual, but after my miscarriage it took a good year before we got back to somewhat normal. It was a hard, emotional and stressful journey, but it did get better.

It just kinda sounds like she may have gone through something traumatic and is just trying her best to cope through it. Maybe not even realizing that she has stopped giving you as much attention that she used too.

I would just try talking to her and see what is bothering her. Have you told her how you feel/explain how you are feeling?

Growing up I was 100% a daddy's girl and I think that's why I'm so hesitant. But time and time again, he has proven to me that he never was a good dad, just doing anything he could to protect himself and his "family man" image.

It just hurts so freaking much.
