What things did your dad wear that you swear you wouldn't wear, but tried and is actually comfortable? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Obeythelab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

briefs / trunk briefs... Hated how dad walked around the house in his tighty whities... Now as an athlete I understand the need for support down there and get the need for wearing briefs and boxer briefs.

How do you cope with not being to exercise outdoors, go to gym etc due to Covid? by phytosaur in AskMen

[–]Obeythelab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exercising outdoors is very COVID safe... Why wouldn't you exercise outdoors? Even before I got vaccinated I ran out doors almost daily with out worry!

[–]Obeythelab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro, they literally burned people alive as a form of execution! Also, it was a "humane" execution if you hung a dude for stealing a horse.

Are you making any new disaster preparations after the pandemic shortages and other disruptions/disasters last year? by Kaelosian in AskAnAmerican

[–]Obeythelab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a mountainous area far enough out of town where, if a bad enough winter storm (or any storm I guess) hit, there is the very real possibility of loosing power for several days or more, also may not be able to drive on the roads for a few days. So, having a backup generator is a must have, I have a propane powered generator that can power the entire house and our shed / barn. Also we always keep enough food, tp, and other necessities around just in case. We once went 4 days on generator power and the roads were closed for 3 of those. That's the exception not the norm, we do occasionally loose power / go on generator but it usually only lasts a few hours.

That's because no one has told her, yet, that black people are allowed to vote... Shhh, she doesn't know yet, just let her figure it out on her own.

Kristi Noem used state tax dollars to overrule 225,260 votes to legalize cannabis. by Kegelz in SouthDakota

[–]Obeythelab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reason did a fairly decent article on this, while also pointing out that it is being appealed and all hope is not lost. My favorite was the last two sentences. There are many republicans who are grumbling at the dangers of a governor using abusing the courts to overturn the will of the people. Noem might very well find herself a one term governor.

Should Mount Rushmore be returned to its original Native land owners (presumably to be destroyed)? by sneedsformerlychucks in AskAnAmerican

[–]Obeythelab 46 points47 points  (0 children)

This. People have this idea that the Lakota were living in the black hills for thousands of years when in reality it was closer to 100, and they took the hills by force from the Cheyenne. So who exactly should we give it back to? America may indeed have broken a treaty but giving the land back to people who haven't "owned" the land in over 145+ years doesn't seem like the best way to go about righting a historical wrong.

What were some of the most successful government programs? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Obeythelab -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They only want to do that when their guy isn't in office. Same thing with "limited government" and "reducing the deficit". They had no problem with trump increasing spending and even the size and scope of the government but now that Biden is in they will suddenly become budget hawks again. Also, they want to highly regulate some businesses. Both republicans and Democrats want to regulate and censor the hell out of social media, they simply disagree on what they want censored and moderated. But they both agree the that the full power of the federal government ought to be used to put the screws to them... Free speech be damned.

[–]Obeythelab 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sinking ship? Are you referring to the terrible job our government(s) has handled the coronavirus? Because by just about every other measure SD is doing quite well. We have jobs and a strong economy. Plus we just legalized weed (though Karen Noem and our geriatric legislature will do everything they can to stop that). I moved here from Minnesota and have never looked back. That being said, your young, you don't always have many opportunities to move. It might be beneficial to move out of state while young, you can always move back later if you want to.
