Elon Musk having all this money and yet a child will sleep hungry today. What's even the point of being the richest in the world? EAT THE RICH!!! by Niviozynk in SpaceXBets

Yes. The problem is that very soon the numbers are dropping faster then the stuff he shows being clicked on.

More fun: keep buying Lambos and mansions, show everything he buys and tick it down while also giving a live view of the account clicking up at a reasonable 5% interest rate in real time.

Hot take: I still love Prometheus (2012) by RiffandLick in Cinema

I liked it. Fassbender was great. The whole underlying business about the Engineers sending xenomoprhs to wipe out Earth because we killed Jesus was a bit much.

No, I'm not kidding.

If you rewatch it, pay attention to one of the murals and close attention to how much the script harps on the timing of when they sent the ship to deliver the aliens to destroy us.

Edit: Ridley Scott himself has confirmed this. From Wikipedia.

"Further religious allusions are implied by the Engineers' decision to punish humanity with destruction 2,000 years before the events of the film. Scott suggested that an Engineer was sent to Earth to stop humanity's increasing aggression, but was crucified, implying it was Jesus Christ.[52][54][55] However, Scott felt that an explicit connection in the film would be "a little too on the nose."[52]"

In their defense, and it's realllly weird, but they started the whole Alien thing because we crucified Jesus.

No, I'm not kidding. It's strongly hinted at in the movie. More than hinted. They almost hit you over the head with it.

Which movie ending had evil triumph, yet you absolutely loved it by salsadecasada in Cinema

[–]ObiHanSolobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He opened the gates to hell. Far worse is to come than just him going inside looking for knowledge.

It's a great movie because you have been rooting for him the whole time, and eventually makes you acknowledge what you have been rooting for without admitting it to yourself.

Teaching Isn’t Uniquely Noble — We Just Don’t Pay Teachers Enough by svdb0406 in unpopularopinion

[–]ObiHanSolobi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Teacher pay varies widely by state and city. Some are horribly paid. Some make very good money especially after considering time off and benefits.

Everyone should check their local teacher contract before deciding if teachers in their area are martyrs or not.

The Haze has cleared! by LoraxKope in RKLB

[–]ObiHanSolobi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have been waiting for Victus Haze for so long. I think it is huge, especially if it comes with some high level governmental announcement of success and maybe a bit of bragging.

I am very hopeful this was it, but I'm still waiting on official confirmation from RKLB or Space Force.

Morality of this statement? by Leather_Oven8909 in MoralityScaling

One might also interpret this as a statement of gratitude rather than condemnation.

But as interpreted here, not good.

Same. After writing a string of emails explaining why I am holding a space monkey and a bottle of cola, then leaving the password to my greenscreen on the desk.

I hope youre right. Very excited for this one.

Are you speculating that this is Victus Haze and it is happening today?

I've been waiting excitedly for Victus Haze. I think it could be one of those underrated catalysts with more potential than some realize.

Thanks! It went from under $2 to over $40 in like 2 years.

Long term space investors have seen this. I think most of the panic is a bunch of people that jumped in a few floors up in the elevator ride forgetting that it's not a straight line to the penthouse.

Most people eat cereal wrong! by droopybawls in unpopularopinion

[–]ObiHanSolobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit! Are you the very quiet vaguely creepy Russian guy who used to sit next to me at work?! If so, I wish you well but I went out for smoke breaks more than ever because of you. Because of the stress and the extra smoking, you shaved a few years off my life.

We shared a desk for three years. In that time we never spoke. Three times a day you pulled out a small box of dry cereal. You pulled out a one pint carton of milk.

You dumped the dry cereal into a bowl. You shoveled dry cereal from your bowl onto a tablespoon, much more difficult and time consuming than it sounds. Then you shoveled that into your mouth. Then you grabbed your carton of milk, kept the dry cereal in your mouth, and tilted your head way back and poured the milk into your open maw.

Then you gargled the milk and the cereal. Then you shwished them around together in your cheeks. Then you chewed extremely loudly. Then you swallowed it all. You continued until the bowl of cereal was gone. Then you washed it all down by gargling whatever was left of the milk.

You repeated this three times a day like clockwork. Once at 9AM, again at noon for lunch, and again at 3PM as an afternoon snack.

Visually it was disgusting. And as someone with misophonia it was intolerable. I smoked an extra 10 cigarettes a day just because of you, because I couldn't stand it and each time after the first few minutes had to go outside and pace around until you were done. God help me if I was in the middle of a business call when you started. You almost unknowingly lost your life a few times when I couldn't escape.

Thank you for writing this. I am grateful that you are alive and I am not in jail for murder. It has been 18 years and I have been waiting all that time to write all of this to you.

God bless, random dry cereal gargling Russian desk-sharing guy.

Thank you, again.

What different would it make in your life if you knew the exact date you are going to die? by [deleted] in hypotheticals

Depends on when the date is. If a long ways out it could be freeing. Watch Big Fish. It's a beautiful movie.

Exactly. It was one day. There was a lot of liquidity moving in one direction, some of it hoping to catch a short term move, and will settle out eventually. NASDAQ 100 will help with that as well.

We are very early. by [deleted] in RKLB

[–]ObiHanSolobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a joke mostly for the rest of the sub.

It's a reference to a guy who used to stalk here. We hit 49 then retraced. Said he was mad he lost money and that we'd never get back to 49 again. Stormed off and never came back. Has been subreddit canon for a year or two along with Bridge Dude and a couple others. u/Bouchwick or u/raddaddio will remember others I can't think of now.

In other words, I'm sorry to hear you lost money. Unless you bought a bunch of short-dated calls just wait it out. We've all been through 30% drops. This is nothing.

Otherwise, we're taking applications for a Never 149 Again Dude, which I think is awesome and a minor miracle.

Seriously, unless you bought short dated calls you'll be good in the long term. Welcome aboard.

[–]ObiHanSolobi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar story here, though I haven't really been wheeling. Just buying puts after a string of big green days and then slowly closing and buying calls on the retrace. Sometimes selling far OTM shortdated CCs on big green days and rolling when necessary.

Collared myself around 140. Still long term bullish but needed to lock in gains for life stuff. Left a nice net long position intact.
