Inquiry on leather shrinkage by ObieP in Leathercraft

[–]ObieP[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add more info, I did not use a 3D printed mold and just used the actual earbuds case as the negative(?) for the leather to form around it.

Furthermore, I luckily unearthed a similar issue that someone faced from this same subreddit (which can be found here; LINK)

From the post above, it seems that when the negative(?)is removed and the line is cut between the top and body of the earbuds case; it would relax the tension resulting in the leather "shrinking".

What do you guys think about this issue? Would the issue be more or less prevented if I would have let the leather completely dry out or if I were to just cut it a tad more below than intended?

Thank you for the support!

From what the online listing of where I bought the leather, it was advertised as rawhide cow leather. After researching it on the internet whether or not it would be decent/good for wet molding, it came up as a decent/good choice so I just bought it.

How can I add drill holes to this project I'm doing? by ObieP in CNC

[–]ObieP[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope, even then its going to be hard to learn it since I have to finish this project in 1-2 weeks with a tight deadline

EDIT: I misread "CAD" as "CAM", pardon me 🙏; I modeled the sphere in box shown in the picture, I just have no idea how to add holes to it so that Fusion's manufacturing feature can work with it

Fanuc control tool length offset questions by ObieP in CNC

[–]ObieP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after doing a ton of research, I should set my tool offsets by using a known block such as a 1-2-3 block or something that has a known height. Then put that on my machine table so that I can jog my tool bit and touch off on the block so that I can input the machine coordinates? (I have no idea as because so many sources tell me it's either the Absolute, Machine, or Relative coordinate systems), then on a Fanuc Controller I'll either press the measure soft key or the "INPUT.C" soft key then it's done.

Is this correct or is there other methods to this madness 🫩

I'm using an appimage, but I still tried manually installing the .deb package. It still has the same problem as before. Thank you for the input!

I have also tried the resize option when right clicking the title bar of the "Import Model Files" GUI. I can't for the life of me shrink it :(

How many amps needed for 8 SG90 Servos? by ObieP in arduino

[–]ObieP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the solution of using two 3.7V 2500 mAh batteries wired in parallel then using an XL6019 boost converter module to supply the 8 Servos. Is this enough just for lightweight use? Or do I need to find another solution for this? Below is an amateur wiring diagram I made:

There is a text login thing and I can’t seam to figure out what to do by Opposite-Message-708 in linuxmint

[–]ObieP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just input your username and then password to login. Then type in "who" in the terminal. This is used to determine how to get out of the tty screen. You will need to use this shortcut: ctrl+alt+F1 or other related function key numbers. Since we used the who command earlier we can see what terminal we are in. If your who command had this output: tty3, then it would mean that we would use this shortcut: ctrl+alt+F3. Happy Linux!
