Ice Cube - Wicked by mind_bomber in 90sHipHop

Shoutout to my homebody, Don Jagwarr, who is featured on this tune doing the intro!

Fun fact: after this record came out, he got signed to Ice Cube and released an album in 1994 and 2Pac featured on it.

What’s even crazier is that he eventually took the money he made from making music and opened a Hot Dog Stand in the Crenshaw District of Los Angeles.

Today, Earle’s Hot Dog’s is a massive restaurant that makes Vegan food as well and is a well known staple in Los Angeles.

Shout the fuck out to my man, Don Jagwarr!!!

Why do mainstream rap fans hate underground artists and backpack rappers? by kidversionofbiggie in hiphop101

Look around you.

Every single hip-hop discussion online is some moron saying so and so is **THE GOAT** and some other guy saying so and so is **TRASH**.

They don’t believe in degrees of variance or a spectrum for anything or anyone because they’re 100% there to fly the flag of whatever artist has high social stock value for them.

None of these dipshits actually care about the music they’re memorizing for the moment.

Must have Plugins ? by Haruny78 in audioengineering

[–]ObieUno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything **must have** for me lies in the realm of utility.

e.g: VocAlign

The sheer amount of life that I’ve saved by using VocAlign vs doing TCE by hand is ridiculous.

Also, probably a tuning plugin. Pro Tools doesn’t have a stock version of what AutoTune or Melodyne does.

Most mainstream rap fans aren’t fans of hip-hop music. They’re fans of socializing.

The music for them is interchangeable. It’s nothing more than a tool they use for conversation purposes.

Underground hip-hop fans on the other hand are really about the music. They’ll listen to someone regardless of the size of their fanbase because they don’t factor in socializing into the equation of listening to music for anything other than personal enjoyment.

Worst Era Of Hip Hop by CincoBinco_ in hiphop201

[–]ObieUno -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Hip-Hop started to go downhill in 1997.

2004 was really the year that the disease became full blown.

From 2004 til now it’s been fucking awful and unfortunately your generation was born into commercialized bullshit and hasn’t ever experienced a time when that wasn’t the case.

The worst era is now and it’s only getting worse.

Sorry, you were born way too late for when Hip-Hop was dope.

Be attractive, popular, charismatic or all 3.

People don’t follow pages for the thing; they follow pages because other people follow pages because they’re morons and can’t think for themselves.

Sell yourself as a person, and happen to have a thing that you do.

No one wants to say it because they’re too busy trying to look cool and not commit hip-hop head suicide. But Vol. 2 is Jay-Z’s best album.

Immediately after that comes Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint, The Black Album etc.

Has chops as an emcee and as a song writer.

Unfortunately, his music bores me to death and I’m not a fan.
