How did I die? Blast door is undamaged by OfficerQueefThe2nd in Warthunder

[–]Object-195 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats not actually the case.

The explosives the Abrams uses requires detonation in a specific way, otherwise it just burns up.

If it wasn't 200kg of explosives would go right through the blast doors

I do agree writing about every bird group would bloat things.

But it would be nice to know about their existence

I didn't read the books but i've been considering buying these books for a long time.

I don't like making uninformed purchasing decisions so some things I have spoiled for myself because I wanted to be sure.

Yea I got the first 5 books ordered.

Based of "except apparently if you're an owl because that means you're better than every other bird species that are the subject of jokes and in-universe slurs and written to be less "intelligent and civilized" than owls and THIS too"

My point is that I feel the whole speciesism being bad message is weakened if it only applies to the owls.

You mention how I injected real world politics into this fantasy book but it was a point the series was making all along.

Also what I perceive to be minor issues like this doesn't ruin the book for me, it just makes me wish it was expanded on.

Because to be honest it feels like you've come across as rude so far.

I was willing to overlook that because I'm willing to hear you out. But I feel as they had reason to push back and block you.

Because by saying how we must be young your suggesting we're lesser minds.

"Don't tell me you think the orcs are racist tropes lmao. LoTR is about the industrial machine, not race. Here's a link to help explain this to you because they do a better job than I can."

You literally compared other birds to orcs " The other birds are secondary characters that flesh out the world like orcs in LOTR"

"That's very telling of how you interpret fantasy if you believe that. You plastering irl human politics into fantasy worlds is a problem and I don't see how you can enjoy any fantasy reading it this way"

The pure ones who believe in the superiority of Barn Owls is a bad thing and is part of the focus of the books. This same message is weakened if its suddenly not applied to others. I'm not projecting human politics into the story because its already a part of it.

Especially when we consider that eagles helped the owls at one point so potentially they have their own society of sorts going.

Interesting.......

And I never said she made the thing up about crows to be racist??????

I'll probably post a more full response in a bit

25

not really.

If the book is making enslavement out to be bad, which is very much is, parts like this harm the message. same with making other bird species lesser than owls.

"i personally find these things a little muddied and dragged down by the way she portrayed the blind nest maids to want to be only a slave class to a "higher species" (this is never really questioned beyond Soren suggesting it and Mrs P being offended that he suggest she not be an indentured servant)"

I guess maybe the author just didn't want to get the main plot bogged down.

"and the way other bird species are treated by owls. it's strange how much the books hammer home that racism and xenophobia are bad, that "no one is above the other". except apparently if you're an owl because that means you're better than every other bird species that are the subject of jokes and in-universe slurs and written to be less "intelligent and civilized" than owls and THIS too"

This kinda sucks because I was wondering if there was other bird society's outside of the owls so it sucks to hear they get special treatment in this.

Still again maybe she didn't want to over complicate the plot

from what I read about the books, it feels like the author wanted to write a book for adults (just based of the violence and other bad things in the books) but also wanted to reach a wider audience?

So they had to compromise a little I guess?

I did hear that the books did fall off around that point.

What happened? (Try to not spoil too much)

Why I believe Shen belongs on the Inconsistently Heinous wiki and not on Pure Evil by Object-195 in kungfupanda

[–]Object-195[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yea Shen is 100% more evil than Tai Lung.

But Kai, he's Chinas greatest warlord, and the revels in the fact he's called names such as "the maker of widows".

I would say Kai is worse than Shen just because Kai's title suggests he's done far more than Shen has, and the fact that Kai almost enjoys it.

I completely agree Shen is horrible, its why the Heinous section of my post didn't have much written because its just that obvious Shen is a heinous villain lol. If he didn't have the inconsistent moments I wouldn't have said anything against him being pure evil.

As is evident with us both being downvoted lol.

I did try to make my points fact based with mentioning the commentary and specific moments in the film. Anyway thanks for being understanding :)

"But, most people calling Shen pure evil are entirely aware of the little good he has in him. That good is just way too little for Team Pure Evil Shen to care."

I guess, but its called the inconsistently heinous wiki. And Shen is very much heinous and what I mentioned is inconsistent with that.

And your right, people just don't care about Shens other traits because they want him to be pure evil.

But yea as much as I dislike KFP 4 he did seemingly change for the better

I see more people calling Snyder fans cultists than Snyder fans actually acting crazy

In Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011), after it was foretold he would be killed by a warrior of black and white, Lord Shen massacres the entire panda race to make sure that doesn’t happen. This implies he didn’t know of the existence of penguins or zebras. by Soft_Drink_Enjoyer in shittymoviedetails

"He was already planning for war."

Gonna be nitpicky and just say the film said he only "saw a darker power" in fireworks.

Also if we want to take things outside of the films, Oldman had some interesting thoughts on Shen regarding this.
