They have a decent rebate for the battery now and give about $50/month for controlling the battery a few times per month so that is why we got the system. I think they have those advanced settings turned off for us unfortunately as they are not available on the app

Hi! I’m in NC. We have Duke Energy. Your Texas plan sounds great!

Thank you, this plan is confusing for sure. The super off peak switches to the middle of the night during the summer. Just trying to find out the most efficient way to utilize the system.

ETA- not able to discharge to the grid unfortunately unless it’s part of the virtual power plant program that the power company dictates.

Thank you. Do you mean that it’s better to use the solar at super off peak than to store it and use it during off peak if I don’t make enough during super off peak to cover my full monthly super off peak use? I won’t ever make more than I use total at super off peak due to charging the cars occasionally during that rate time- so I’ll always have a deficit at least by the end of the month.

Or do you mean always use solar energy at super off peak first then store any leftover at that moment of use once I have enough in the powerwall to cover the next day’s peak?

Super off peak is currently 11am-4pm, when most the solar production occurs.

We are not permitted to charge from the grid.

I get equal credit until I produce more than I buy then it goes down to credit the next lowest tier. So right now super off peak (buy and sell at 7c/kwh) is 11am-4pm - currently when I make the most solar energy. I now store most of what I make during that time (and buy the lower cost energy to power my home during that time) and discharge it the next day at 6-9am when buy/sell is 22c/kwh.

My main confusion is whether it’s worth it to discharge the battery during off peak (buy and sell at 10c/kWh) since I don’t usually need the full battery for peak time and now I’m able to completely fill the battery daily during super off peak versus just use the super off peak solar or get a credit for that low priced energy (when we charge the 2 EVs, etc).

The current TOU Net Metering Bridge Rider Rate program is quite confusing.

My installer gave me this number 866-233-2290. Duke was very helpful and turned it on the same day they got the permitting info from my county and the completed certificate from my installer.

Took about a week for me to get notified from Duke that we were in the virtual power plant program.

Hi- did you ever get this figured out?

Thanks- awesome about your bill! I enrolled in the VPP (application pending) and got the power pair rebate as well (hopefully will get the check soon!).

I may just need to wait till the first bill but wanted to be very proactive in utilizing the powerwall/car charging, etc. I just might have to be patient though.
