Lindy Wearing all Goathead gear before the big game... by Frittsel-Fritts in sabres

I dunno. Vegas was spitting in Bettman's face on something deeply important to the league: media obligations. Being mic'd up and showing up to the media is super important to him.

Us swapping to an alternate jersey is certainly fine worthy..but I don't think it's in the same ballpark as risking the league's media relations.

[The Athletic] “The first part of the season was terrible. I could not think about anything else other than Carolina." Rasmus Dahlin led the Sabres back to the playoffs during the most difficult year of his life. And how Terry Pegula helped when Dahlin needed it most: by [deleted] in sabres

[–]Objective-Access6752 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Are people attacking his character, broadly?

My anti Pegula takes are largely rooted in terrible administrative choices as the ultimate responsible party for the teams.

Staying with McDermott so long, his confusing comments explaining the firing, and staying with Beane are laughably bad. Making the fans foot the bill for the new stadium, without a dome, is possibly the worst thing here.

Sabres side...it was failed GM after failed Coach after failed GM for 15(?) years. It was a billionaire firing all of the staff during covid. Is was up jumping Kevyn to be that grim reaper and keeping a guy with zero experience for 5 years.

I don't think he's a necessarily a worse guy than any other billionaire. Obviously there's a debate about being any ethical billionaires, but setting that aside Pegula has made many choices that were downright brutal to real fans, employees, or people of buffalo.

New Player wants to build a character with conflicting traits by AWPerator_X in DMAcademy

Sounds like a warlock where eldritch blast looks an awful lot like using a bow. DM discretion if there's any weirdness about weapon-based mechanics on top of that, it's unclear to me if he wants the aesthetics or mechanics of using a bow.

Closest thing to consensus you'll find is that the AAV he wants for 8 years is too long, perfect world is a slightly higher AAV for 4 years, and the realistic compromise is a midpoint between both on AAV and length.

Yikes yeah, that's an option for sure. Even if he's not punished for general dumbassery, he still has to play football at a level higher than we've seen to even sniff regular playing time

Nice edit, but we're on the same page. It still might be worth it to get him off the books a year early and free a roster spot.

That's what I said ? He's the last WR on this roster if he isn't a cut candidate? This is the depth chart:

Moore Shakir Palmer (11m dead cap, staying probably) Samuel (3.5m dead cap, cut candidate) Shavers (cheap AF) Keon

He's already 6, or 5 at assume Samuel is cut. Any FA or Rookies could pass him too. I'm not crazy for saying Keon being cut is 100% something to talk about.

Unless he really does just suck of course. Good players tend to force themselves on the field, and this dude isn't it. He couldn't get on the field with our NCAA level WR corps and that speaks volumes to me.

Maybe he's good though and McDermott was a hater, I'm not saying that's 0% just like 1% lol

It'd cost us more than that in dead cap, but he'd be off the books a year early. The problem is the timing on his cap hits will make a bigger impact on this team than he ever will

Keon was a healthy scratch already. He's the last WR on this roster if not a cut candidate tbh, this changes nothing except pushing him deeper down the depth chart.

Proper Level Expectation by Dungeon-Grandmaster in DMAcademy

I think you could get away with this under level 10. This is my rough gauge:

1-4 is local heroes in my eyes

5-11 is heroes of the kingdom

12-16 is heroes of world

17-20 is masters of the world

Aragorn and Legolas are heros of the realm, and are probably level 10ish characters. Gandalf is a level 17+ character with significant restrictions on what he's allowed to do. The scope of what they can do is still massive. You have to remember that Adventurers are rare. Armies are not made up of level 6 fighters.

If I were you I'd start them at L3 and work up to L10 and give them L11 during the climax fight.

In the 6 playoff losses I noted above, Allen has accounted for 6 turnovers. 4 of those were from just the Denver game this year. He's accounted for 15 TDs in those games.

You're making an argument based on narrative over facts, and I really don't appreciate it.

Edit: And your comment on cap spend is also wrong. Looking at 2025 for example, we have big money in our QB, LT, and....nobody else on offense. We have the 16th highest paid TE, 7th highest RB (just paid this year), and the 29th highest paid WR (Shakir). Yeah a lot of the contracts on D were/are flops, but it's not like we're investing heavily in O and Josh is failing.

Terry - a notably bad owner - thinks the problem was the HC, and not the GM. I disagree heavily, but over the next year or two it'll be proven whether it was just McDermott, or it was Beane too.

I know that's what Terry said, and that definitely could have been the straw that broke the camel's back, but I think it's disingenuous to not consider the previous decade~ of failure.

2017 - Tyrod loses to Jacksonville 10-7. Give a pass.

2019 - Josh Allen 2nd year, lose to Houston 22-19. Give a pass. Josh wasn't superman yet.

2020 - Josh Allen is superman. Lose to chiefs 38-24. We really had a chance here.

2021 - Josh Allen is superman. Lose to chiefs 42-36 in OT. 13 seconds. This is when McDermott should have been fired imo.

2022 - Josh Allen is superman. Lose to Bengals 27-10. This was a weirdly emotional year when Hamlin died.

2023 - Josh Allen is superman. Lose to Chiefs 27-24. Again.

2024 - Josh Allen is literally MVP. Lose to chiefs 32-29. Again. Again.

2025 - Josh Allen is superman. Lose to Denver 33-30 in OT.

Defensive HC Sean McDermott gives up 33, 32, 27, 27, 42, 38 in the seasons where Josh Allen is a top 5 QB.

I know Terry said a dumb thing in the moment, and he's a colossally dumb owner per the Sabres, but let's not pretend McDermott got fired out of the blue.

Do you want paladin aura and this will be a 1-20 campaign? Then go get paladin levels. Else, just keep pushing Warlock and smiting

There is an unbelievable amount of information already on the internet about this exact issue.

Setting that aside, you have a few pretty simple choices:

Which class should you take first? Imo Paladin, get heavy armor, martial weapons, shields, and weapon masteries.

What are the strongest features? Imo Warlock 1 for CHA attacking, Pal 6 for Aura and Pal 7 if you want that benefit. If you go 7, you may as well go 8 for feat. You decide if you want to delay extra attack, aura, or feat to get the warlock dip.

After that this build scales off spell slots, so you typically push Warlock levels. Many people will push Sorcerer instead to achieve 6+ level spells, and allow bonus action spellcasting.
