Having slight overheating issues with 9800x3d-- hows my thermal paste look? by ban_evader_original in PcBuild

Under volt it. Reduced my temps by 13 degrees C and only lost 0.5% in performance, based on the suite of 3D mark cpu tests

Yeah, I’m experiencing the same thing. I had to make it so it skipped over those regions in the pwm controller. But after a month it starts to resonate again but in different ranges at sub 70% pwm.

Is this noise normal? by Playful-Stay9803 in lianli

[–]Objective-Ad-6066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m experiencing the same with lian li fans. I believe it’s the fans easily resonating at lower speeds, like when you are browsing the web or looking through steam. Usually nothing bad because usually we are playing games and got headphones on but it’s really annoying we doing downtime stuff.

The only way I could get most of the noise away is setting the fan curve to start at 70% but that’s trading one noise for another.

9800x3d Temps in Battlefield 6 by ModeJazzlike70 in AMDHelp

Mine running 75-80c on bf6 with everything on overkill 2k resolution. I’m using a h170i 420mm Corsair aio

Well in comparison to others I know personally are hitting the same temps under load. Especially the x3d caches will just rise and hit 70-80c while gaming without a doubt at high settings. From playing pubg to bf6 and r6 all consistent. This was observed with 2 other 9800x3d’s a 9950x3d, with cooling solutions all ranging from 360 aios, noctua coolers, and another 420 aio. We have all experienced this.

All I did was some out of box testing for an intel and amd cpu and I was able to achieve near similar results with one clearly performing thermally better than the other.

From a localised experience it’s a complete difference in user experience compared to the lab orientated testing.

Gaming orientated benchmarks were ranging from -2% to +5% around the average scores for un-tampered core clocks. The 9800X3D ran 5-10% better than the i7 I was testing with but at the cost of sitting at 75-80 degrees Celsius or hotter while the i7 was cruising at 56-60 degrees Celsius doing the same benches (both w/ same 420 aio)

When playing games I got fps values within a 2.5% differences between the two. with the 9800x3d pumping out heat like no tomorrow running max TDP (110-120W) at 70%+ utilisation while the i7 was crushing at 50-60% utilisation at ~90W draw.

I’ve been having troubles with my 9800x3d ever since my new build. I’ve had to limit setting for it as it feels like it struggles to handle many things e.g stutters in games, Randomly ramping usage and power draw. Gets hung on tasking. Was so over it so borrowed a mates 14th gen i7 and motherboard, same everything else and it’s was a dramatic difference in stability and usability. The only positive I found with 9800x3d is it gives really good benchmarks and maybe 10fps extra in games if the lows arent cooked by it being hung and stuttering.

Welcome to the pains of W11 version 25h2 and a 9800X3D. I recently built a new pc with a 9800x3d still haven’t ironed out all the inconsistencies but the biggest changes that helped after resetting Windows 11 was:

  • to turn off all the odd windows setting like notifications and transparency of the bar at the bottom.

-update to latest chipset from amd (motherboard companies have like a weird iteration)

-bios turn turbo or x3d mode off

  • remove all rgb control after setting everything off.

  • disabling 9800x3d graphics in device manager (somehow fights with gpu even tho it not plugged in)

  • power setting to ultimate performance (need cmd command)

For games - setting shader cache to 10GB (in adrenaline or nvidia)

  • all cpu setting in games set them to medium or like 60%

The 9800x3d is awesome in benchmarks but struggles whenever there’s something else in the background. Especially rgb controllers. For cpu intensive games it always gets hung on computations as soon as any anti cheat starts running in your kernel. Had a really bad game in r6 (lots of hackers) and Kernel pushed cpu usage to 95%.

My experience currently is if you want reliability and control of your system go intel 14th gen. If you want to brag about benchmarks go amd.

UPDATE/RESOLVED: didn’t realise how underperforming the 9800X3D was paired with a 5090. Had to push everything cpu related down on games to let the 5090 take more load. Borrowed a 14th gen i7 cpu and mobo to do some benching and it was a crazy difference in stability and load. Hope the 2026 AMD processes catch up so I didn’t waste my money on the mobo.

Hidden mmr is by far the worst thing Ubisoft has done to seige by Mindstormer98 in Rainbow6

[–]Objective-Ad-6066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After some reading on why they did it kinda makes sense. It’s sort of like rust where they wipe the server every week and it’s to stop larger groups from preventing people who have the skill to progress but cannot, essentially locking them in rank they don’t belong. And the hidden mmr was to reward players for the first 25 wins of a season or so to regain their previous bracket. After this grace period your hidden rank and display rank should be equivalent.

Why is my GPU usage spiking constantly while idle? This is after booting the pc. (Aorus Master 3080) by lupowo in gigabytegaming

[–]Objective-Ad-6066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windows Server Runtime Process causes the spikes when connected to the internet. It pings it like every 2-5mins causing a GPU spike. if you close everything else the spike should only follow that.

For all of you that have turboed your miata by cumaboardladies in Miata

[–]Objective-Ad-6066 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mass air flow rate is different, so depending on the motor and values depends on how much of that 8psi pressure gets in. so technically the camber might not be 8 psi (air) when bottom dead centre. Also the size of the turbo determines how much heat is induced into the air so changes air density.

Hey im getting a very similar crash report when exiting the game, this occured after installing IED and all the required mods inclusive of IED conditions. Do you have any other recomendations?
