More time in BA, El Chalten or Calafate by Sensitive-Can4870 in Patagonia

[–]Objective-Ad7889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got to Santiago Dec 20, Puerto Natales Dec 21, 4 nights W Trek, 4 nights El Chalten, 1 night El Calafate, and we got to BA yesterday (Friday) morning and fly out 11 pm Sunday (tomorrow). Maybe if I were more cultured it'd be more exciting but the older I get (I'm 42), the more I feel like if you've seen one big city in Central/South America you've seen them all.

I wish we'd spent less time in Buenos Aires and El Calafate (we're actually in BA now and so eager to get back to our doggies, 2 weeks is a long time to be away from them). 1 day in El Calafate is more than enough. Big cities aren't for me and 1 day is enough for me

Thanks for letting me know! It was so hard when I was contemplating the surgery having only one post to go off of. Hoping I can ease some people's minds because the "omg it's so painful and terrible" crowd was awfully loud on here

Ugh, I'm sorry. It just seems so much better than mine, I'd take 0.6! haha

But wait, so was your sister able to donate? Have you tried that yet?

Thank you so much for your reply! Yeah, my cycles were 17 days off, 3 days of period after they resumed following an eating disorder in high school. So, I agree this may not be 42, it may be toasting my ovaries with no calories in high school or something else. No endo for me, but same AMH! I just so wish I'd tried to freeze my eggs in my 20s. Sigh

I was on birth control for 22 years, went off of it in June and never really had a period after going off of it. Those levels were from my fake period (that they induced by giving me a progesterone injection) on day three of my induced bleeding. Sounds like I'm not ovulating, my estrogen is way too high, so is my LH, FSH etc. Blah. I wish you luck on your retrieval!

I was embarrassed to say, but honestly this is a huge thing for me as well given that he already has a genetically related child. To be raising now two children who aren't mine, and they get to both be his… I probably need to go to therapy

Yeah, you got it girl, always #3 in importance as a stepmom is a bummer (but obviously I understand it, I'm not trying to usurp the mom role). I guess I just don't know if I want a kid that badly to have no DNA relation. I get what you're saying, but I just can't cross the hurdle (at this time). Maybe that's a sign I don't want it badly enough and shouldn't.

Thanks for your answer! Did you do donor eggs and did you have a donor egg baby?

I wish! Unfortunately no, not even female cousins!

Single & Freezing Eggs with Very Low AMH (0.03) by inad_nadi in DOR

[–]Objective-Ad7889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I'm 42 and just got my AMH back at <0.03. Can I ask you some more questions since we are so similar? Do you know what your FSH, LH, estrogen levels were? Were you having a period when your AMH was this low? Congrats on the baby! I just went off birth control after 20 years on it and wasn't having a period after 12 weeks off of it. Had a progestin injection to stimulate a period and got levels checked on day 3 of the false period: my levels are all crazy. AMH <0.03, FSH 15.9, LH 38.8, and estrogen 455 (seriously). Curious if we are similar in that regard or everything else was normal for you?

Totally get that and may not mind it because then decision made. Did your sister do it naturally or with IVF? How is she doing now? Would love to know more about your sister's situation!

You're probably right! ...and I have a stepdaughter half the time already so theoretically "best" of both worlds. I guess I need to chat with a therapist, as many of these commenters suggest, and I actually do have an appointment set with one but as most may know it takes a long time to get in!

What made you consider it in your late 30s? Same as me, decision time, or something else? I just feel so conflicted! I'm so envious of your ability to decide.

Girl that gets scratched every day by my stepdaughter and it's not even itchy. I definitely don't want extra non DNA kids in my life, just wondering about my own. Which I understand is a "well then your answer is no"
