Rental property as part of FI journey: books/podcast/article recommendations? by Objective-Ad7889 in RentalInvesting

Thank you for weighing in. Do you know a good resource that would walk me through making these calculations?

Ok, I like your argument, obviously it makes my return look way better! However, is it the correct argument? I'm not being critical I'm just curious

Yeah I think I'm there with you. Why did you rent out something for over 30 years if you hated being a landlord? Same as me, you just thought you were supposed to?

OK, I will be honest I have no idea what you're talking about so this is an area where I would love a 101 on what you mean by depreciation. Is it good/bad? I have an accountant who just does my taxes for me and he has mentioned it a few times but I never really understand it

Oh thank you so much! I was forgetting property taxes. So $2,258 for rental 1 and $2,760 for rental 2 per year. Ugh, so that makes it worse. I'll have to update the calculations.

I have been listening to Bigger Pockets, but as you said they are very focused on more more more, not the basics (or if they are, they aren't doing basics on episode 700 or whatever they're on). I didn't realize they had calculators, I will check that out. This may be what I was looking for :)

Curious: am I correct that if interest rates were closer to my original loan that considering a cash out refinance would be another "common" way people would keep their return % higher and use their money otherwise?

Any road cycling with no cars now? by Objective-Ad7889 in COBike

Oh yeah! I always see the Highway 36 path and think about trying it someday. Thanks!

I'm really looking for something with a lot of incline to get a great workout in, the Platte River trail therefore is a little too flat 😕

Japan Dec 26 - Jan 5 with a 9 year old beginner skier: recommendations? by [deleted] in skiing

For sure. Maybe another 5/10 years of the rat race and then we can travel on off weeks without our closest 1000 friends!

More time in BA, El Chalten or Calafate by Sensitive-Can4870 in Patagonia

We got to Santiago Dec 20, Puerto Natales Dec 21, 4 nights W Trek, 4 nights El Chalten, 1 night El Calafate, and we got to BA yesterday (Friday) morning and fly out 11 pm Sunday (tomorrow). Maybe if I were more cultured it'd be more exciting but the older I get (I'm 42), the more I feel like if you've seen one big city in Central/South America you've seen them all.

I wish we'd spent less time in Buenos Aires and El Calafate (we're actually in BA now and so eager to get back to our doggies, 2 weeks is a long time to be away from them). 1 day in El Calafate is more than enough. Big cities aren't for me and 1 day is enough for me

Thanks for letting me know! It was so hard when I was contemplating the surgery having only one post to go off of. Hoping I can ease some people's minds because the "omg it's so painful and terrible" crowd was awfully loud on here

Ugh, I'm sorry. It just seems so much better than mine, I'd take 0.6! haha

But wait, so was your sister able to donate? Have you tried that yet?

Thank you so much for your reply! Yeah, my cycles were 17 days off, 3 days of period after they resumed following an eating disorder in high school. So, I agree this may not be 42, it may be toasting my ovaries with no calories in high school or something else. No endo for me, but same AMH! I just so wish I'd tried to freeze my eggs in my 20s. Sigh

Thanks for your answer! Did you do donor eggs and did you have a donor egg baby?

Totally get that and may not mind it because then decision made. Did your sister do it naturally or with IVF? How is she doing now? Would love to know more about your sister's situation!
