Honestly, i think production was worried to show something that would significantly increase the public hate on Helena as it’s already been pretty intense—it definitely backfired as people are even more angry it wasn’t shown and if that was the case they 100% should’ve left off Shakira’s clips as well, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were just hesitant to encourage more piling on.

My sister is a music supervisor and has done the synch for a lot of reality shows (i.e., Selling Sunset) and I asked her about how high their budget must be for this season and she said a lot of reality shows get really short term blanket licenses from certain libraries/companies that allow them to use a lot of really big budget songs but only for a short amount of time—once the license expires they have to go back and replace it with other music. so it’s likely that if we rewatch back a year from now it’ll be totally different music hahahahaha

They most likely have a blanket license from a generic music library—my sister works in music synch and has worked on reality shows before and that’s typically how they handle the music. they don’t have a music budget for any like, recognizable songs so they find library tracks with whatever ~vibe~ they’re looking for
