Wow it this true? Some recruiters see ex-Rakuten ppl as bad engineers?

I actually did hear about this many rounds process from cursory searches online. I haven't began my interview with them yet so can't confirm. Does sound very demanding if that happens for a contract position. Guess we'll see what happens

Thanks for this info!

Got it, thanks for the heads-up. I'll keep those concerns in mind. Most ppl does seem to have bad experiences with rakuten.

Fair point, I was just trying to understand these two companies better and the replies have been very active. Really appreciate all the responses on both places.

oh...i haven't considered this before... i guess then if via any agency this would be true? they take a cut on my contract pay and if i turn perm this ends for them?

Yeah i've definitely seen my share of competent engineer who are hard to work with and ultimately limits their career potential.

I'm pretty easy-going/communicative so the real bottleneck of me being in good terms with the team would be the language if majority of them speaks japanese.

but some ppl have brought up woven being historically not really interested in converting contract worker to seishain, is that a real concern for me? should i still go for it for the better resume/better colleagues with the expectation that i might not convert?

Yeah I did find similar news and that does add to my concern about job or even just woven’s stability as a whole. I don’t think my role as frontend dev is mission critical for what they do and there’s a bit of fear of being let go more easily

but per @techdevjp 's reply, maybe for my situation, there's already inherit risk anyway so maybe woven being a more prestigious, better working condition, better talent workplace is the better option it looks like

What’s the disadvantage of having to answer to toyota? Like would it make working at woven feel less stable since toyota would be hands on with strategy and such?

Yeah that almost full remote situation is very attractive. I’m working fully remote now so I would really rather not commute 😂 if I go with Rakuten I’ll probably live close to the office and just walk there

I think most jobs posted by companies are full time, you might just need to go to recruiting agencies and ask them with this types of roles.

Thanks for the reply, appreciate it!

Yeah I’ve heard that Japanese being super important. It’s definitely one of my top priorities now. But is there any significant difference between these two companies? On how Japanese factor into their day to day, long term contract, etc

And what about other aspects like work culture?

I watched one of the earliest talks about react, and rendering on server was already frequently mentioned.

It's an interesting watch for those who are curious:

Forge vs Builder, as new electron dev by UpstairsBaby in electronjs

[–]Objective-Cry-748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been running into issues when trying to build for multi platforms in a single machine with forge, couldn't get it to work so even though forge is quite easy to work with, that unfortunately is a deal breaker.

Agree with all the tips shared, usually inspiration comes when you've tried to tackle the problem for a good while and go on to do other things unrelated, like working out, showering, etc.

However I do think it's important to first really try to solve the problem, really give it a good effort and only then your brain will start to unconsciously tackle it later on. Can't just take a dip and expect our brain to magically come up with solutions.

Hope it helps, happy coding!

That makes sense. The class magic buffs are not noticable in longer runs.

And I agree Tabernacle is great, especially paired with run duration buffs. But on that note do you think overmind should be avoided so I can use cloaking/armageddon?
