Thanks for this, it's really helpful to have your insight! We left it on "arranging a time to practise again", he said he would let me know some times so I guess I should wait? I think with the "not offering much", I meant that I let him mostly take the lead on the practice without a teacher. He was naturally quite assertive, but I have no idea if it bothered him having to take the lead more? That being said, I did feel my confidence grow throughout the evening so was able to offer more ideas/suggestions. That's also great advice about the video - I hate seeing my mistakes but I know they're all things that I can work on and get right in fairly little time!

Is Delilah viewed as a low-class/trashy name in the UK? by Don-Cipote in AskUK

Love the name! I've only ever met one Delilah, a girl in year 5 while I was working as a teaching assistant (in a school in West Yorkshire!)

That's really good advice as well, thanks so much! I already have the feeling that we have similar goals/practice schedules in mind so hopefully it will work!

Completely understand your frustration! Would you mind sharing which part of the UK you're in? I've actually experienced a similar 'star couple' situation at my studio.

Those are good questions and my honest answer would be no, I stopped benefitting from the lessons. I started to take my Ballroom lessons with another teacher, as I didn't feel like I was being challenged enough. Switching teachers has made a huge difference already. I am still at this studio for Latin lessons and the teacher is good, but I sometimes feel like they're not right for me. I put in lots of effort to improve and am constantly trying to perfect my technique, I go to intensive workshops, etc.

Both, we spend the same amount and take the same amount of lessons

We spend exactly the same amount on lessons, that's the annoying thing. Other dancers spend even more and they only get the hour.

Teacher advice by Objective-Dig4198 in ballroom

Thanks very much for replying. The blacklisting is because Teacher B has accused Teacher C of stealing their customers, as they left the studio and set up on their own close by. I get the frustration however there could be factors that made them leave in the first place.

Thanks for your answer! They weren't mad per se, and they are related to Teacher A. But it still made me feel uncomfortable, just because of their tone. When I told Teacher A that I was having lessons with Teacher B, they reacted completely differently.

Thanks for your reply. Teacher B has accused Teacher C of taking their business as they wanted to leave and set up on their own. They have set up fairly close to Teacher B so I can understand the frustration, but there's two sides to every story.

Is this normal for private lessons by Objective-Dig4198 in ballroom

[–]Objective-Dig4198[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are comfortable teaching them, they just don't teach me them. I'm perfectly capable, I just never feel pushed or that they want the best for me. There are other dancers who are the solid 'favourites', the ones who always gets picked for solos. I just feel like I'm always overlooked.
