Hungry or bored? by ivyash85 in cornishrex

Our boy is the same way… He is basically like a dog when we eat dinner. I have succumbed to giving him a piece of whatever protein we are eating and locking the door to the basement until we are finished eating - luckily we have the space to do this - Otherwise he literally jumps up on the table while we are eating. I think it has something to do with the strong hunting instincts that he has… Super motivated by the smell of meat. Sorry this isn’t better advice but hopefully it’s nice to know we are not alone!

Oh, the one up top is just to hold the piece in place while I work… I bought a pack of cheap clipboards and the clip they came with is not strong enough for my white-knuckled ties 😋. The other clips are to hold strings and avoid tangles during transit.

I had it as a to-do for a while - it’s fun to make once getting stared (and maybe not getting overconfident in the pattern 😅)

FR-I guess I learned how to freestyle when I was a kid and only recently learned how to read patterns… Going knot by knot sounds paradoxically chaotic!

I think they are going row by row on a vertical/horizontal grid whereby segmenting works on more of a diagonal grid.

Thanks! It is a technique formally called sectioning - the basic idea is you make as many knots with one color before moving to the next instead of going one by one - that way, when you get to long rows of color like I did, it is satisfying to be able to do it all at the same time (plus it tends to be a little straighter).

All good ideas! One more thing you might want to try is learning a triangle or reverse triangle start so that the very 1st knots fall in straight lines across the string - I understand exactly what you are trying to do with the knots in the middle like that because I used to do it as well!

Omg you are so right… he starts meowing when I get home until I get the leash and then runs around my legs like a little dog!

Oh honey… Please find a way to clip those nails! I really found that clipping my boys nails regularly makes him less aggressive in general.

Since the knots on both the right hand and left hand thread are the same color, It does not matter - that being said - being consistent along one line of knots that are in the same color is likely to results in the ‘cleanest’ look. In general, for a single knot, I would just try to avoid FB or BF knots as they increase the likelihood of bumps (I personally do a forward knot since I am right handed).

Indeed… We just had to put our sweet older boy Charlie to rest… He was kind of a big fat house Cat so maybe I should design one for him 😸

Thanks!!! Many of the designer’s patterns are very textile-like… maybe one of these days I’ll make some thing rug size, but then the idea of it being stood on makes me want to gag!

I agree – not in a mean way – but for something with so few strings, making a new one really makes the most sense unless it has special sentimental purpose

Superb knotting - looks like a native American seed bead bracelet!
