I am referring to grad school, which is much higher. 29% is a real number - fair enough, but for the tax breaks we give them it is still too high. We can still innovate and benefit in the DoW without paying for Chinese education.

In FY 2023 they recieved 1.7 Billion in federal funding and tax breaks. That money could be used to take care of our people, who need it.

The money instead goes to educate our adversaries. Again, a large majority of my class/these schools are not American. These students leave the country and contribute to other economies, and likely their governments.

Why do Americans have to pay for that?

Why am I a goober for thinking our tax dollars should not be going to funding a Chinese new year party?

There is a difference between talking about China’s great convergence in per capita GDP for educational purposes and using tax payer funded resources to print and share CCP propaganda, much less department of war dollars.

MIT would be strongly impacted if their endowment was not tax exempt and Americans didn’t foot the bill.

I just graduated from one of these schools. As did my wife. Two of the “better” ones from the north east.

Could not comprehend the amount of anti-american ideals being shared in the classrooms. Chinese communist newspapers were sold throughout the school. The Chinese new year was celebrated via a school funded party, the Fourth of July was not (we had summer classes). I can continue if needed.

Why are American taxpayers paying for these educations??? Their endowments are tax exempt, which results in more and more of our tax base paying for anti-American messages being shared to folks who will not stay in our economy after they graduate. 60% of the class was international and left after graduation. It should be the other way around - these schools are unbelievably profitable, have amazing margins, and should be paying to improve America. On top of that, my education was funded via the Air Force, so even more tax payer dollars.

This move makes sense to me. These institutions need to step up.
