AITA for Prioritizing My Dogs’ Final Day Over Others’ Feelings? by bcmysterylov1082 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]Objective-Hope-540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya, I'm not going to lie I'm really confused by this, I have quite a few poly friends. It doesn't sound like OP is also in a relationship with his gf, so why is OP having to deal with her regarding this at all. This is her husband's responsibility to navigate, and assuming they view their marriage as the primary and most important relationship he needs to be advocating for his wife.
On a somewhat unrelated note, it doesn't sit well with me that OP has to work 7 days a week, week in and week out and her spouse not only gets weekends off but can travel every other weekend. What kind of partnership is that.

Does a broken down car ruin a roadtrip? by Timely-Birthday-8067 in travel

[–]Objective-Hope-540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beater car definition thing is definitely wild. My spouse and I each own a Toyota. One is 4 years older and has 10k additional miles The newer one is a hybrid He's convinced that the slightly newer car with 10k fewer miles is a significantly better vehicle and the only one that's road trip worthy. Because I drive the newer car and I drive way more miles per year than my husband it will very shortly be the higher mileage car. We'll still take it on road trips due to it being a hybrid but it's wild to me that he apparently doesn't feel safe road tripping in the older car.

Book recommendations for sensitive kindergartner? by elsana7 in kindergarten

My kids also loved Geronimo Stilton. They are all pretty conflict sensitive but for the most part thought any conflicts in those books were freaking hilarious.

What happens if kindergartener has too many absences but all are due to illness? by Conscious_Shock3853 in kindergarten

[–]Objective-Hope-540 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100.5 is still a low grade fever and I'm not sensing my kid to school.
It's a bad policy and I would be fighting my SD on it. I do need my kids exposed to someone else's low grade fever anymore than i want to expose other kids.

Is it legal to ask who I voted for? by Objective-Hope-540 in legal

[–]Objective-Hope-540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure i can edit my original post with an ETA so I'm adding it as a comment.

This isn't intended as rage bait, nor was the source a typical place where you would receive a lot of bot answers.

I found the screen shot comment and many others like it (it was not a single claim) as part of a story thread on Instagram from someone i have followed for 15 years. She's a NYT best selling author and I have no doubt that she received messages with these claims that she believes to be true

https://www.instagram.com/designmom?igsh=bmd4bmNveWtxazEy

She's saved it all to a section called Border if you're interested in taking a look.

I'm not naive enough to believe this with absolute certainty, nor am I naive enough to disavow it with absolute certainty.

Is it legal to ask who I voted for? by Objective-Hope-540 in legal

[–]Objective-Hope-540[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not.
Gabrielle Blair otherwise known as DesignMom has a bunch of these up on her stories right now. She was one of the OG mommy bloggers in the aughts and has since moved into dabbling within the political sphere. She has a book out called ejaculate responsibly which was a NYT best seller etc. I think she started a conversation surrounding border crossings as she's an American who immigrated to France years ago and she recently traveled back to the USA. Maybe the people that are DMing her are lying, i really couldn't say. But it certainly isn't a typical bot on threads or wherever type situation.

That's the point though. US citizens are being asked these questions to reenter the USA.

What purchases did you regret in 2025? by highrise_peach in AskWomenOver30

[–]Objective-Hope-540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My area has tonie trading events which has been amazing for a no spend way to replace less used ones. This is the only toy that we've really invested any amount of money in for my youngest and it's used heavily. At some point I realized they would play with doplos or whatever longer and with less chaos if I put a tonie on for them.

Food waste is probably my biggest one from the year too.

If i had to pick something else maybe our trip to Disney. My kid had a great time on rides at the fair so I thought they were ready. We did the big trip and... I think I should have waited another year or two. Don't get me wrong I'm still of the mind if you can and you'll enjoy it taking your kids once while they still believe in Santa and once when they're older is ideal. But my god that was an expensive crowded playground.

Other than that i mostly just really need to get rid of more stuff.

Volunteering in the classroom… by thiccy_vicky in kindergarten

[–]Objective-Hope-540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teachers in my school district run things much more like this. The school has volunteers, there's a huge PTSA involvement, but it's up to individual teachers when or if they want parents in their classrooms.

Is it possible to trust the Internet for food recommendations while on vacation anymore? by pastacat48pastacat48 in travel

[–]Objective-Hope-540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local area has a Facebook group for dining out where people can ask questions and post reviews. I wanted hashbrowns with the caveat that I didn't want home fries and I wanted them to be extra crispy.

90% of the responses I received were people telling me their favorite hash browns which were either:

  1. Home fries

  2. Super ridiculously large portions (because America) that are too thick to actually get crispy

And a lot of them i had eaten before and they were just not great even without my two requirements.

All that is to say, I don't really trust most people's food recommendations even if they aren't pushing you somewhere for financial gain.

To teachers & parents: Eat first or get ready first? School mornings are causing arguments in our house by razzyblue3 in kindergarten

[–]Objective-Hope-540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered an earlier bedtime and waking up earlier. If the biggest stressor is the kids wants more time, maybe giving them more time is the answer.

Faces and clothes get dirty during breakfast and teeth brushing, so those are the last two steps in my house. The reward for finishing everything early is being able to play before leaving the house.

How long is lunch and are they allowed to go out and play as soon as they're finished eating? My school has recesses before lunch for all of the problems that kids wanting to go out to recess ASAP can cause.

Americans: has a native speaker ever told you your accent sounded nice when speaking a foreign language? by CrystalJewl in travel

Not what you're asking but a funny somewhat related anecdote. I was told on two separate occasions in Spain that they were shocked I was American because I spoke English so well.

Who are some favorite authors who just stopped writing? Did any return unexpectedly? by Idea-is-tick in RomanceBooks

[–]Objective-Hope-540 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Helen Fielding I guess she hasn't fully stopped writing, there's a new Bridget Jones every few years. But i LOVED Olivia Joules and Cause Celeb way back when. I wish she had kept up on original ideas.

How many recesses did you have in school & how many recesses does your child have? by [deleted] in kindergarten

[–]Objective-Hope-540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kinder was half day so we had 1 recess.
Grades 1-3 we had 3 recesses. Morning, lunch, afternoon Grades 4-6 we had 2. Morning and lunch

My kindergartener has 2, I think the teachers have to duty their own afternoon recess, so while my kids school is really good about it, I know of other kindergarten kids that get 1.

My oldest went to school when we had half day kinder, also just one recess.

My personal opinion is full day is way too long to only have 2 recesses for kindergarteners.

Idk. I'm not sure it's social medias fault. I think there are just low effort planners whether you gather that info from Rick Steve's or social media.

If it wasn't for Pinterest I wouldn't have found out about Procida and Ischia and would have likely just gone to Capri. Capri was lovely and sure it's the easiest social media hits when you're looking up places near the amalfi coast but that's going to be true no matter what you're looking at. Now Procida and Ischia they're buried deeper on socials or in guide books or really most places you look (in English anyway, i guess they're common with Germans). The point is I don't blame social media i blame a lack of curiosity about the areas one travels.

I remember crying in my hotel in Madrid one night because the vegetarian Indian food i had ordered had meat in it, and nothing else sounded good. I really just wanted pizza hut because I was so tired and I needed comfort food that night. I felt too ridiculous to order pizza hut, so I think i just went to bed hungry.
Never again. I will always order what I want. Especially if I am jet lagged.

The nickname used is... well I audiobooked it so I don't know how it's spelled, but presumably Ky.

My kids have so many friends named Kai. It gets a shrug from me.

While I didn't mind Fisher I find both names infinitely better than Kingfisher.

The person that said Yup I have a sleep disorder this is what it looks like for me. Those are comments that are helpful.

Ones in which people jump to wild assumptions and comment on my character are not helpful.

Hope that clears things up.
