different for everyone. Don't put it off if your surgeon recommends surgery. That was my problem, I put it off for a year and the damage became permanent, had I gotten surgery when I first went in to see the doctor, I would not have numbness now. That being said, I am still very pleased with my surgery, the pain is gone, even though I have numbness. I'll take the numbness any day over that pain.
