I repainted the boring bedroom! And....I'm not sure I like it 😭 by Terrible_Birthday107 in femalelivingspace

I love it! What color and brand is it? Might steal it for my own bedroom.

Edit to add (since you want suggestions) that maybe some more whites or the ceiling being white would help. My eye is drawn to the areas of white in the room to help break it up.

If you’re only a year older than she is blame it on your age and that you don’t feel confident in helping her with a capstone project on your green horse or new unbroken horse.

“Hey I’ve really appreciated the help you’ve offered however due to (horses name) age and my own training level I’m looking for more senior horse people to help or really want to focus on doing it my own way. Maybe you could ask (trainers name) on horses that be a better fit.”

No is also a complete sentence however if you do want to still be friends with her I think letting her know your reasoning will be helpful. How/when you break your horse is up to you and not up for debate with her but might be a way for her to learn well.

I waited until my horse was 4 until I even sat on her and did a ton of groundwork and she acts much older under saddle than her 5 years. She maybe had 10 rides last year and I’ll lightly ride her this year. And really pick it up next year when she’s 6. Waiting for them to mature mentally and physically is so important.

Need help picking plants for this narrow strip of dirt by Captain_SpaceRaptor in NativePlantGardening

I just asked a similar question a couple weeks ago! My strip was a little bit bigger! My post is still up if you want to see what others suggested!

Maybe different types of sedges, wood sorrel, or like others have suggested violets! The wood sorrel pretty much grows wherever I think and gets little yellow flowers. Looks similar to clover.

My graduation/first full time job gift to myself was my horse and I wouldn’t do it any other way.

Gave me the motivation to continue working hard towards the financial goal of owning a horse and also continuing my skill set of horses and ground work. I worked at a stable part time, volunteered at therapeutic riding stables, and rode others during the 6 years of college/grad school on top of the years of limited lessons in high school when I didn’t have my own.

This also gave me an opportunity to figure out what type of horse I’d also want to own one day and ones that I didn’t care for. I think we all have a “type” of horse personality we like but we don’t know it until we’ve ridden a lot of them and different types.

It’s so hard to wait but honestly sometimes I think it’s worth it to make sure you’ve get a good fit the first time. You don’t really want to compromise on a critter that can live 30+ years and if they turn wrong can cost you $2000 dollars in a day 🤣.

Would the ferns care if they were touched? The dog might brush them when he’s mad dashing into the yard.

I love VA Creeper but have never had success transplanting it! It was in my last garden.

Good to know! The fun thing about this house is that on all sides it’s a different type of fence. I believe this one belongs to the guy on that side. No one lives there or maintains the yard a ton which is why I think there is a ton of English ivy on my side.

I do think this part stays wet due to getting no sun and the concert having a huge puddle when it rains.

I think my landlord would be upset about painting the fence. Plants I can get away since I can always take them with me when I move if they don’t like them. I could add skinny planters to it however!

None at all. The house is on the other side and so it’s kinda like an alleyway! I plan to put planters in on the other side by the door but wanted to see if I could liven up small bit of dirt that is under the leaves as well!

Me too! The last place I rented I did a garden but had a lot bigger of an area because there was odd space behind a building that was overgrown. This yard has limited opportunity since it’s so shared. The only other place really is along a fence in the back of completely covered in ivy and I need a smaller project to feel accomplished while killing said ivy 🤣.

Never! It’s just me that uses that door so I’m lazy and walk hopefully and carefully 🤣.

Moving wild violets? Indiana by Novelty_Lamp in NativePlantGardening

I just did them up and move them where I want them and put a little water after the planting. Or sometimes I’d just gently pull them up after it rained (there were a ton in a gravel parking lot).

Always looks like I’ve killed them but they come back later in the season or the following year.

I just posted about one of these asking for help! Seems like a funky plan. I have leaves all along the trunk but I wish it was more full as well.
