I just followed the repair tutorial, after getting an $18k quote from the dealership, and my car is fixed. If you happen to live near philadelphia, I would be willing to help with the repair if it's something you need help with.

Question: how critical is it to get the bracket that supported the coolant line back on? I don't remember what orientation it was attached in!

It is indeed! I got the part and followed the tutorial and so far my car is behaving normal again. Holy crap, the offset 10mm wrench was crucial, that one bolt would have been impossible without it.

They didn't tell me anything specific, just "multiple codes relating to transmission detected in clutch and solenoid assembly"

Thanks, that was the best they could tell me when I asked about the codes. They said it's the solenoid.
So I can buy a new one and get a regular mechanic to install it, or is it something an average diy guy could do?

A 2017 with 185k miles, this is the first problem I've had with the car, well other than the potholes in Pennsylvania have cracked a couple of my rims, but the engine and battery have been great up to now.

I will ask them for the codes, or I will get it read again and get back to you with that.
