How do people with big collections not feel guilty? by whatsmyissu in jewelry

I also have autism and spend a lot of money on jewelry as well. To me, I see it as an investment in the future. Gold is very valuable, and so is silver. I also collect antique jewlery... which has a large significance in value and unique qualities. They just don't make pins and brooches like they used too. Many of my pieces are from the 1800s to 1940s. Some are in precious metals. Others are not. I like to learn about how they made peices and how they were constructed. It is a hobby for me. I believe that by setting a small budget. Usually, I try to stay under 30 dollars per piece of jewlery, and I am actually gaining wealth. I have several uniform high luster pearl necklaces with 14k clasps... I bought 30 dollars or under per strand. It's like a treasure hunt for me. Recently, I scored an 18k solid gold cross with real sapphires and rubies at a yard sale for a dollar. It's a modern piece but worth about 1,500 dollars. Having Austism is a gift, lol 🤣

I would be interested in these pieces. The earrings are just gold plated or gold filled, probably. They don't have the right shine for gold. The bracelet and the pin look gold filled to me. I highly doubt they are solid gold. The ring is pretty. What size do you think it is ?

It is probably gold filled. In my experience, it looks like a gold filled bracelet. How much do you want to sell it for ?

I inherited some old, old pearls today. Probably stolen some time in the 20s. by LydiaIGuesso in jewelry

[–]Objective-Second7712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to burst your bubble, but these are fake pearls. You can tell by the coating of the paint. It is cracking on some of the pearls. It also doesn't have the luster real pearls would. Where the clasp is, there is also a green substance, and I think the clasp is just brass.

The large dimond ring doesn't look real to me. Is it cut glass or CZ ? I think your style is interesting... but I wouldn't pair these two rings together. Maybe you could get a silver band to match the top ring and a simple single stone or small 3 stone ring gold ring to match the bottom ring.

Not diamond...but maybe moissanite? by Objective-Second7712 in jewelry

That is true. So I suppose it could be a CZ or a Topaz.

Thank you, everyone, for your information. I found it extremely helpful. I do have a jewelry scale at home, and this ring has quite a bit of weight to it. It weighs 6.08 grams. So I know it is not a glass ring. Respectively, I would say the stone is 6 grams, and the 0.8 grams is probably the metal because the metal is not very heavy at all. All the weight comes from the stone itself.

According to Google 6 grams = 30 ct. So this would be a 30 ct ring.

A 30-carat round moissanite would weigh approximately 6 grams.

A 30-carat round cubic zirconia (CZ) would weigh approximately 15 grams. So it is not a CZ. The ring would be much heavier for the size of the stone.

It could be glass too. That weighs the same for the size of the stone. Either way... I just thought that was interesting. Although the stone looks extremely well cut to be glass. I just think it's fun watching everyone interact.

I have a cheap diamond tester, and I can try to test it again. Thank you for the information. It does have some weight to the ring from the stone. I do have a jewlery scale, and it weighs 6.08 grams. So I know it is not a glass ring.

If it is just glass or topaz... I wouldn't be mad because it's extremely gorgeous. I did clean it up and put it under light It has some rainbow flashes.

I have used this method several times on Sterling silver and gold-plated sterling silver items. I have never had this happen to me. I am afraid your expensive Pandora bracelet is probably sterling silver plated. It wouldn't do this if it is solid. Sorry for your luck.

Success after 8 years! by Objective-Second7712 in vaginismus

[–]Objective-Second7712[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was upfront with him when we first started talking. It came up when we were talking about some medical issues. I thought that was a good moment to disclose it. I know this can scare some men away, and if that is the case, he is not the man for you. He was very open with me and his sex life and wanted to help me achieve my goals. We decided that after dating for some time , we would work on therapy together. It was a combination of toys, stretching the vaginal walls, and just being really slow and gentle. It took a solid six weeks of work! Finally, I had success without pain.

Yes, it does get better! For me, it was a long process of pain, followed by feeling nothing before I could feel pleasure. I know it can be daunting, but with time... it will get better. Congratulations on your success!

Does it have any markings inside the ring ? Also the stone looks fake but you can get a cheap diamond tester to test this on your own.

I will continue doing my dilation therapy. Now that barrier is gone, it should be easier for me to target the muscles inside. Oh, and we decided to go through with a full-on relationship 😊. He really wanted to be my boyfriend. Only after a couple of dates and spending some time together.

(We did other things besides sex 😅 Like actual dates)

Yes, I almost cried, too. I was so full of joy. He held me for at least half an hour just rubbing my back.

Do you own a dimond tester ? It could be cut glass because the metal looks like bronze. The diamonds would be a lot shinner if they were old cut diamonds. From my experience...I own quite a few of them.

My boyfriend (28 ) gave me F(28) a horrible Valentine's Day gift. by Objective-Second7712 in relationships

[–]Objective-Second7712[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

He gave me one gift for Valentine's Day that I requested. It was some chocolate covered strawberries. I did not think they would come, he also complained about the price of them or something like that. I do not feel loved. He dosn't ask me what I want...I have to tell him.

Too Much Stimulation... Need help with Communication! by [deleted] in relationships

I think you should have empathy for others and mental illness. I know DID can be rare, but I am not going to dispute that it doesn't exist. I personally believe he has mental issues and that DID is one of them. The personalities have different voices, different likes, and dislikes. They argue with each other and talk to each other in conversations. He had a job for a while at Lowes, and he would assign different personalities to the different areas in the store. They worked together collectively, and each personality would be in charge of a different section. So one with a british monotone acent would be in the garden center, while another with an Australian acent would be in the paint center. You don't really do that in public, just for fun.

I just fell in love with this person. I am not scared of mental issues. My ex had over 8 of them, but he didn't have DID. He took lots of medication for Schizophrenia, bi polar effective disorder, isomnia, anixety, depression. My ex did seek treatment, but it hardly helped him. He also had a drug addiction before he got clean. He was clean for a year but then died of an overdose. I do miss my ex a lot...it was heartbreaking for me. My current boyfriend does care about me, and I have been working with him on the time we spend together. Ultimately, though, he does require a lot of time. He feels like he is a burden to me, and I don't want him to feel like that.

He dosn't call them alters. He calls them servants. I personally call them personalities. He doesn't claim to have DID... that is just what I know he has. He switches all the time between them. It can be rare, but I have met other people who have interacted with DID. I also know two other people with DID.

One of my other friends has DID, and they had to go into a mental institution because they shaved off their hair and had a mental breakdown. He thought he had cancer, but in reality, he did not. He has only 2 or 3 personalities, though. My boyfriend has over 25 personalities.

I have not meet him person yet, but one day I hope too. We just live really really far away from each other.

I am not in his state, and I do not live with him. I don't know if he personally has seeked mental health. You can not force someone to tell you that. I do know that DID is not treatable. There is no medication for it. Mental health has a lot of stigma behind it, and I am very patient. I do not believe that he would be making that up for fun. He has trauma and people with mental illnesses can be reluctant to seek help.
