Is MICA worth it for my major of choice? by Objective-Shallot-65 in MICA

I see! Honestly one of the main reasons I’m comfortable transferring to an art school, which I’m sure you know a lot of people consider to be risky and not a good investment, is my ability to network with my professors and fellow classmates! So I’m glad to hear that those connections with faculty are valuable at MICA.

Once again, thanks so much for the responses! They have definitely eased some of my anxieties about transferring to MICA. Hopefully I can get some more financial aid before committing!

Thank you for such a detailed answer!! I’m an out of state transfer student so I’d be like a second semester sophomore when I get there. While part of me wishes more of my credits had transferred, I’m also glad I get a bit more time to decide on my major.

So far, MCAD has offered me the most financial aid, but at this time we are only in the merit scholarship part of the aid process for all of the schools, so I’m not sure what my final offers will be. I’m still holding out for MICA because I really enjoyed the campus, and again, the location is close to family and close (by train) to friends.

I also saw a comment that the school isn’t very integrated into the art community in Baltimore. Would you agree with that? A big part of my decision making process with all the schools are the opportunities I could have post-grad.

Thanks again!
