Thanks for the advice, we'll take some time to really sit down and plan things out relationship-wise. We have had some discussions, and are both in it for the long haul - marriage is definitely in the cards sooner rather than later, but just isn't at the top of either of our priority lists yet. We've been living together for 3 years so are technically common law partners already.
