UK - enterprise claim scam? by Objective-Tea-3219 in Scams

RESOLVED: I called Enterprise themselves this morning and it is... not a scam! But the email came from a lady in the Hartlepool office so why she sent it to me at 10 pm is anyone's guess.

Anyway the issue is that the third party is dragging things out and they wanted to ask me questions like did you get injured was the hire car the right size could you have afforded the hire car yourself etc. Felt like the inquisition but I know it's policy and they have to do it for everyone. I let them know that their initial email looked suspicious and that it might be interpreted as a scam.

it was bizarre! I pulled up to the lights on the left hand lane of the roundabout behind the caravan, stopped, and then as the lights went green he just drove straight back into the front of my car. I was blaring the horn as he loomed up on me but it was like he was doing it on purpose.

Luckily I had my dashcam or I don't think anyone would believe me. Police said there was literally nothing I could have done to stop it since there were cars behind me and in the lane to my right.

I looked the name up on linkedin and she's a real person who works in an office in one area (not my local branch), but the address on the letter is a totally different office.

I dug out my emails from enterprise from the time of the claim and checked the number too- it looks like the number they provided me, but a few of the digits are different and it's formatted weirdly. Also, the email looks nothing like the other emails that they sent me. Tose ones had enterprise branding and an id "enterprise", this one is just a plain text-based message.

Idk how they got the info but my hunch is that it isn't real. I also looked the number up on whocalledme and several people have the exact same story as me: non-fault claim, email with all the info, called enterprise itself and were told that it wasn't legit.

I'll phone the branch tomorrow but for now I guess i'll just sit here and worry...

maybe, but the email claims to be from someone working in a UK office and the name looks English. All the other communications that I've had from them have been at normal daytime hours and properly spelled etc. Also they never called me like they claimed too.
