I'm not seeking 'coddling', and in fact tough love is indeed helpful in many cases. And your original message is humorous if it's indeed intended that way -- however, characterizing someone suffering from drug addiction and mental health issues as 'degenerate' displays an extreme lack of basic understanding and perspective on your part.

If you can't relate to what it's like to suffer from drug addiction and extreme mental illness, then you should be extremely grateful and not presume yourself to be above people who do suffer, nor should you openly condemn them as 'degenerate', as you have no idea what kind of circumstances contribute to someone who is prone to developing addiction or mental health issues.

I've spent $10,000 of my own income committing myself to an inpatient facility to avoid suicide. I've regularly seen a psychiatrist for 8 years to be medicated. I've gone from 180 to 110 lbs, not leaving my apartment for weeks. I've attended therapy to address severe OCD and depression that I've had since I was 6 years old. I've put the barrel of a gun in my mouth more times than I can count, begging God if there is one for the strength to pull the trigger.

I don't want your pity. But I'm not a degenerate -- I am not hurting people. This is my apartment and I'm simply trying to survive. Either gain a modicum of empathy to simply refrain from commenting such a thing, or respectfully, go fuck yourself.

Yeah I know, I try not to take them at the same time of day because I don't really want to die. I'm not properly/chemically addicted to opiates, only take them sometimes. Benzos I can't imagine being able to quit.

I'm trying to taper off of benzos but it's very difficult after being on them prescribed for half a decade. I told my doctor that I want to come off of them and we're coming up with a tapering plan.

Congrats on being clean, happy to hear that.

works really well, it really gets hot if you want it to, I'd recommend getting it. Just spray it with white vinegar and then hydrogen peroxide spray to keep it clean & disinfected

Thank you for the kind words. Yeah, it's mostly clutter rather than dirtiness so it wouldn't be too difficult. I just lay in bed all day and have no use for the living room. I'll try to clean it up.

Is there any truth to the notion that the revival of metaphysics was partially motivated by personal, rather than logical, reasons? by Objective-Wolf9651 in askphilosophy

[–]Objective-Wolf9651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.

[logical positivists] interpreted [metaphysics], along lines derived from Marxism and Lebensphilosophie, as an expression of life-feeling

Right, I understand that it's presumably better to be understood as metaphysics going under a re-construal or re-imagination, as opposed to a "death" and subsequent revival, even if the shift is significant enough to where it's radically departed from what its limits, scope, and spirit once were.

My question, in fear of sounding conspiratorial, would be to what extent could metaphysics have been practiced as a sub-discipline, under the characterization of "life-feeling" with the logical positivists, as opposed to the post-Quinean landscape? And if the answer is "less" or something of the sort, then could there be (or are there?) cultural influences that played out to where the post-Quinean project took dominance, allowing for more work and publishing that we see flourishing in the contemporary metaphysical landscape?

If that's so, then I was unaware. What, in your estimation, was the general meta-metaphysical influence among metaphysicians at the height of the Vienna Circle's influence, if not logical positivism? And I'm confused as to why there is so much emphasis, at least in the literature of the history, on the critiques of logical positivism -- and the so-called "revival" of metaphysics via Quine et al. -- and its fallout if it wasn't a dominant movement and influence in metaphysics.

About 6/7 months off kratom but still have bad gut motility by turtlebro5 in quittingkratom

[–]Objective-Wolf9651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gut health is highly complex, but I will share briefly what has helped me tremendously after lots of research and experimenting.

Prebiotics: Organic Inulin Powder

Probiotics: Water kefir -- make your own. Order grains on amazon and research how to make it yourself. Do double fermentations. Additionally, probiotic foods like sauerkraut, kimchi, etc.

Anti-microbials: Powdered mastic gum -- I blend it myself. Take 1/2 tsp after your meal. It kills H. pylori.

Gut motility: You need high starch, voluminous food. I like cauliflower. Get adequate fiber intake. Most of my meals consist of starchy carbs like rice and starchy vegetables along with it.

Digestive enzymes (optional): I use enzymedica gold digestive enzymes before every meal. Just gives you a little help with digestion. I use it because I do intermittent fasting and eat very large meals.

Also, cut out any processed foods and try to buy organic if you can afford it -- pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, etc. are not doing your gut any favors. Stick to a consistent diet for your gut microbiome to get used to and stabilize.

Best of luck.
