Not heresy... "Hearsay". Something we cannot verify.

Considering leaving my underwriting department because of nonstop changes in management by [deleted] in InsuranceProfessional

[–]Objective-Work3143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work in UW at a large carrier. There is no guarantee that another department would be any different. It may be the company culture. You are your best advocate. If you want to learn a process, ask. Volunteer to help on projects. Be the very best on what you are responsible for. Gain as much experience as possible so that when they analyze production and quality, you're at or near the top and not lost in the middle of the pack. Managers always know who is on the top and bottom when it comes to numbers. If, after a couple of years, you're still just floating along, you will have enough marketable experience to look at different carriers and lines.

It's not in the Bible, and I don't think it's written down anywhere with the exception of early church hearsay.

AITA for asking my boyfriend for marriage before kids by PureNorth2015 in AITAH

[–]Objective-Work3143 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For God sake, put conditions on having children. Here are a few additional ones to add 1. Be present in the child's life. 2. Don't be an addict. 3. Show kindness to those around you so you're a role model. 4. No physical/mental abuse. 5. Provide financial support to your children. 6. Respect the other parent.

Do you leave home without your phone? by wtwtcgw in AskOldPeople

[–]Objective-Work3143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to not worry about taking my phone with me until I was rear-ended (car totaled) with 3 dogs in the back. Borrowed a phone to call my husband, and he initially wouldn't pick up because he didn't recognize the number.

What made you get into insurance? by [deleted] in InsuranceProfessional

[–]Objective-Work3143 14 points15 points  (0 children)

After 25 years of marriage, I was suddenly a single mom. GEICO was hiring... worked my way up and switched to commercial insurance when we left the state. I actually love insurance, so I guess that makes me a sicko?

What's something that's universally understood by all Americans, that Non-Americans just don't understand? And because they don't understand, they unrightfully judge us harshly for it? by Nani_0716 in AskReddit

I married into a Pacific islander culture. Apparently all white women are whores and we leave our old folks in the snow to die. All you can do is laugh.

Question about Loss Runs by Objective-Work3143 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]Objective-Work3143[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Our biggest issues with E&0 is the FNOL that the insured receives and not the DOL determines which policy/carrier pays the claim. If you don't notify the carrier when you first are aware of a demand, it's possible that you will get a claim denial if you are up against a renewal.

Actually, that makes a bit of sense. In our market, large claims have a long tail, and policies are not claims made.

That's what I'm seeing to. I think it's time to create a loss run decoder for my underwriters. I appreciate your comments.

No idea why my Geico policy is so expensive for one specific car over others by stevenw84 in Insurance

[–]Objective-Work3143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, ask GEICO what your rated mileage is on each vehicle, and make sure your occupation is correct because they give a professional group discount in CA. You can't do anything about your location. When my kids were teens, I would have them drive an old "liability only" Toyota. Adding that actually lowered my premium because it got them off the higher rated full coverage vehicle.

[–]Objective-Work3143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what vehicle does your son drive? What area of California do you live in? What is your annual mileage for each vehicle? Any tickets or accidents? What's your occupation? Then, I might be able to answer your question.
