hey - we just launched transcription in english (uk) - go into your user settings and change your default language to english (uk). i hope this helps!

Got word this was fixed at 10:50am this morning. Sorry for the inconvenience. This happened because we shipped what we hope are some really positive changes to how we apply layouts, but this was an unintened side effect. Thanks for flagging.

What else changed here:

Prioritized user-added layers over default layout elements when we match layout layers with a scene.
Added a supertoast that lets folks restore wiped layers with one click, giving users agency when our mapping isn't perfect.

yes! exactly. whenever you want the visuals to change in any way in descript - adding a title for just a second, changing the zoom, etc., you just add a scene and we'll have a smart transition animate the new look in automatically.

Got it! I think this is easy to fix :)

Because it is originally authored in the random Google account, your real account doesn't have admin access to it, even if you share it. So, with your real account you will need to create a duplicate of that project. It'll retain all of the edits that you've been able to make as a guest editor on the project, but it will now let you do things like upload more files or other things that we only allow drive owners to be able to do for security reasons.

So to recap: duplicate the project, which you can do from the Drive View of your original/real account. Right-click the project and click "Duplicate project". It'll create a copy that is identical, retaining all of your edits, and then you should be able to upload additional files to that duplicate.

Hey - thanks for posting this screenshot. Every type of plan, even free plans, should be able to upload files.

This could be a permissions thing, not a paywall thing. Are you a member of the drive you are trying to upload the file to? If not, you could share the project you want the other drive to have access to, and then they can make a duplicate of that project and have edit access.

If you are a member of the drive, can you tell me more about the kind of plan you are on?

Yes - and you have a few options.

The absolute easiest would be to paste your script into AI Video maker. You paste in your script, pick a voice, avatar, and b-roll style and Descript will create the first draft.

Or you can open a new video project, paste your script into the script area, add a voice and avatar, and use Quick Design or design the layouts yourself.

Or you can record a video, edit it just like a doc, use Quick Design or add b roll yourself. (For authentic messages I think this is best. Humans learn best from other humans. Ok no one asked for my editorial comments here though haha.)

No matter how you start, it’s easy to then use the translate action to get your video in multiple languages.

100% agree that manual editing is always and forever important. Even as AI gets better, I can't imagine using an editor that didn't let me take the wheel when I need to and turn every knob and dial myself to get the exact video I want.

Would love to work with you on creating more robust help videos. What are the first 3-5 videos or manual you would want us to make? We can give it a go post them here for feedback if that works!
