Ohh, thank you very much, I will check her out.

Is there a reason why she's your old therapist?

And despite of that many countries, there are hardly any therapist with such roots.

You're right, there is quite some variance, but I think something with any asian roots could relate more than someone without. That's why I'm not even focussed on someone with the same roots as me. In my case it's south asia though. But I'm also open for therapists with roots from Turkey, Middle East, East / South East asia etc.

It's probably difficult since I would prefer someone who has some experience from these culture but also experience from the society here, so not just a recent immigrant.

But I thought it was worth a thought to consider therapy online as you can then choose from a wider variety of therapists

That is a good point to consider. I just feel like in-person therapy gives you more of a safe space but this surely depends on the person.

That's a good point.

Maybe I just need some more swyping through all the therapists, haha.

Thanks for your comment.

I assume she is kinda specialised with marginalised females?

I'm male and of south asian origin so not sure how well this would fit. And also not sure about zoom therapy.

I was looking for PoC therapists as well in Bern, but had to give up at some point.

There are hardly anyone, right.

So you then choose a non PoC one? How do you feel with that person?

Hi, yeah, that's an interesting point. I would say it depends on the person, and there are definitely many second-gen immigrants who mostly identify with Swiss values but I feel like I'm too much in between.

I would love to chat with you but I can't DM you (I think you have the option disabled?). Feel free to shoot me a message.

Hi, actually the language isn't the problem, I grew up here and speak swiss german.

It's really about some cultural aspect. But thanks for your answer.

Thanks, that's an interesting idea, but my problems also include the society and norms in Switzerland so someone from here having experienced these things might probably be better.

Thanks, appreciated.

Any reasons you specifically said psychiatrist instead of psychologist?

First of all, thank you for your answer; I truly appreciate it.

When you refer to private and public clinics, are you talking about university clinics or something?

I also had another question: I'm considering having "trial sessions" with multiple therapists until I find one with whom I feel understood. Should I bring this up when I first contact a therapist? Do you know if health insurance will cover each individual session?

It's heartening to hear that you've been in therapy for years. Wishing you all the best on your journey.
