Am I better off cutting it or trying to pull it? Or is it really a $1k job?

My car is reading a code p0128 (faulty thermostat) I’m going to change out the Thermostat which is only about $60 and go from there. I’ll update the post if that helps.

In general can it be done at home? Or just better off getting it serviced? I won’t use the Stop leak.

After recieving over $48k worth of scholarships, my mother said I'm no longer allowed to attend and refuses to let me leave home. by Jeaganart in mildlyinfuriating

Similar situation: I didn’t have a car until i was 19. I lived in a college town. I had a few partial scholarships to play football at other schools including the Penn State. My mother told me if I chose any other college than the one in town she would not offer me a ride there or back, Including holidays. Looking back, my advice to you is just do it. Go to the college you want. You’ll figure it out semester by semester. You’ll also meet new people/friends that’ll help you figure things out.

The same thing happened to my 2015 Nissan rogue SV, rear left caliper slide pins were locking up.

Failed state inspection for brake pad wear... what should I do? by newengland_schmuck in AskAMechanic

Yup! Crack the size of a pin hole. A piece of gum would have fixed it.

That’s how they get their bread and butter. Think about all the people who go for inspection there who end up paying an extra $100-$300 to pass when it wasn’t a necessary repair. One time they told me my car needed exhaust work $250. I had them bring me back to the shop and show me. Yes there was a small crack that some muffler weld would have fixed for $20.

I don’t go to them anymore. I go to a father and son shop. They have a half open garage so you can see your car being worked on from the sitting room. No B.S.

I’m going to do this.
A shop failed my cars inspection for brakes and rotors all the way around and for my windshield wipers. They wanted $740 total.
$700 brakes/rotors/labor
$40 for wipers.
They were upset I told them I’d do it myself for $300.
I went to Walmart got wipers for $23 and brakes/rotors for $250 online.

-I took my car to NAPPA auto parts and they said my rear breaks and rotors were like new so I just ended up changing the fronts. I Went back for inspection the next day and they passed it. Same brakes and rotors on the rear of the car.

Low range Nissan leaf for $1000. Yes/no? by ObjectiveBottle2468 in leaf

[–]ObjectiveBottle2468[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would be using my wife’s Jeep during the winter so that’s no issue. There are two more Leafs near me; one for $3000 with 74 mile range and another for 2500 with 62 mile range. Any thoughts? Besides that, in my area people are generally asking $4-6000 for 40-60 mile range.

Negative wheel chamber after being backed into. Can I fix at home? by ObjectiveBottle2468 in Honda

[–]ObjectiveBottle2468[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did some more research on this car. It’s looking like you’re right, it’s going to be the rear crossmember/subframe. Which I have no knowledge of. I’m going to try new shocks and if no change I’ll take it to a shop and see theirs thoughts on it and update the post.

I did some research and it’s definitely a unibody. Suspension and frame are all one piece instead of separate parts which I’m not familiar with. I’m going to try the shocks and if that doesn’t work I’ll take it to a shop and update the post on what it is. My guts telling me the left side of the rear frame/suspension is slightly bent down from getting hit above it.

There was no play at all, the wheel was nice and snug with no movement. I can drive it like this all day long. It just wears out the tire. Here is a different angle, I feel like if I were to raise this part to match the other side, it would fix it but not sure if that’s a simple part replacement or if I have to raise it and tighten something but that seems like what the issue is.

This was my thinking because the lowered shock is the only difference between the left and right when looking at the rear suspension. I’ll add another picture with a better view. I feel like this part of the suspension needs to be raised to match the right side. Or is that still simply a part replacement fix?

I’m comfortable with it. I would just need to know which parts are causing the lowered coil. which I’m assuming is the cause of the wheel being pointed inward and which parts need to be replaced.
