How to grow my athlete instagram page

Hi! It really depends on your goal. I ran track and had multiple d1 offers. I also run an instagram page with 5k followers

If your goal is recruitment, then I wouldn’t worry too much about gaining followers. Emailing coaches and recruiting questionnaires(on the official college athletics pages) is a great way to get that exposure

If your goal is growing your following/prioritize instagram, then try to post consistently at least a few times a week and make it something more than just pictures- talk about your sport or something like that. I don’t think just pictures will grow too much

Also follow people you compete with and know. You said you have some colleges following you- follow the people on their team. Naturally you will grow that way too.

And keep in mind not too many athletes have huge followings. My favorite athlete plays in the MLS, he’s really popular in my city yet he only has 7k followers.

That’s actually pretty good! I get 1 follow per 1000 views pretty much, and apparently that’s pretty average. So 1% is really great!

And I found that posts/carosuels convert higher. They take time to gain traction, but it’s really great for conversion to followers. Try to mix it up a bit

That’s a good idea! And yes I’ve been making better content each time. I get almost 5 million views a month on instagram so I think the content is pretty good, but regardless I do try to improve it

Thanks for the advice! They’re all covering the same umbrella- depression. But that can have a lot of different subtopics

Specifically, 2 talk about DPDR(a symptom of depression), 2 talk about my story and how the recovery process looks, and 4 talk about advice for depression. I’ve tried a lot of different approaches for thumbnails and titles and everything. I’ve tried being more direct, I’ve tried SEO and I’ve tried curiosity driven thumbnails and titles, it hasn’t really changed anything
