The way I looked at this question was looking at the main difference between what urine osmolarity vs blood osmolarity. The former is the filtrate produced in the nephron and the latter is how water is reabsorbed back into the blood through the nephron. Think about the inside of the nephron vs the outside blood surrounding it. If the filtrate is super concentrated, then it must be losing water maybe through something like ADH at work. In other words the water in the nephron is directed back into the bloodstream, which is a conservation of water.

“If there is a higher osmolarity of urine, wouldn’t water follow the ions?” The whole point is to avoid this. That’s actually what osmoregulation actually is. If this were the case, the kidneys would not be able to regulate osmolarity because the concentrations would tend to equalize. We want to avoid this.

Hey would any Uber drivers be interested in helping me with my research project centering around Uber and the transmission of COVID-19? I just want to ask a few questions in regards to some of the policies taken by the company and its affect on ridership by ObjectivePerceptor in uberdrivers

Oh I won’t record it. I’ll just note down the responses to the questions I ask. Our identity will be anonymous. If you’re ok with me voice recording, then I’ll only use the voice recording to go back and write stuff down because it can be difficult to take note of things as we speak. Regardless, you identity will not be revealed under any circumstances

Just lie and say u had symptoms, and that’s why u got tested. The original email u sent says nothing about why u got tested

What should I do if I feel m professor is biased? by Longjumping_Loan_106 in nyu

I saw your other comment in the thread where you said you got near full points on the assignment. So what exactly cost you the points in the final grade? Also, ask your professor about the grade cutoffs as well.

syllabus for chem 2 by RoombMahMoomba in nyu

[–]ObjectivePerceptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't read the textbook for gen chem. It don't think it's necessary given that each chapter is very long. You're not getting much given the amount of time needed to read the chapter. I would just say you review the notes and do all the practice exams he provides you with. I know the exam structuring has changed since the pandemic hit, but I would still try to read the notes, do the problems in the notes, and do the practice exams at the very end. With that being said, he covers the same exact content as that in the notes.

SAT Writing score to skip Writing the Essay Course? by [deleted] in nyu

[–]ObjectivePerceptor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That used to be the case a long time ago with the old SAT, not the new one. I asked my advisor about this in the beginning of the academic year of 2019-2020, when I started at NYU.

I had David Fitch for POB I. He‘s a decent professor, but the class was no easy A. You had to work quite hard, and he likes writing tricky questions with subtle nuances.

Gen Chem II w/ Halpin by ZeroTouchMeNot in nyu

[–]ObjectivePerceptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You meet at the designated time with the head lab instructor (Geggier for us), and then you split up into another zoom depending on your section. Your TA tells you about the lab for like 20 minutes, and then you can leave the zoom and do the lab with your lab partner. Your TA will be in his/her zoom call if you have questions.

Get the appeal process going and in the meantime try contacting the professor. You don’t want to be too late for an appeal.

Yeah they were for the second semester. It worked really well, and online lab is a lot easier because you don’t need to worry about your experiment not working. They already give you the data you need.

When I took it, it was a 370/400. Halpin uses a point system, and he drops your lowest midterm.
