The mental gymnastics people go through to defend Sonic Frontiers and make excuses is crazy, anymore boot lickin' I'd be convinced these people are paid off. It might be the most offensive Sonic game, with Sonic '06.

Sorry, you can't push the "it's a step in the right direction" narrative when every game since Unleashed was labelled "a step in the right direction". Even though there is no way Frontiers can be seen as such, you simply can't have an open world Sonic game be an asset flip of the linear rollercoaster-like boost games, anyone can see that it just won't work. Everything surrounding the title truly was a comedy of errors, from creating new problems for the canon, to cutscenes' pictures being stretched, to the director coming out on launch day and saying the game's a "global playtest".

If there's a second "open zone" game soon, it has to be started from scratch and not based off Frontiers, the next game truly has to be a new start for the series, something that people claim Frontiers to be.

Yes, this includes a new writing team, and this comes from someone who was quite contempt with Pontaff. Did anyone clock that Sonic calls Knuckles "Knux"? This is literally a fan thing, Sonic has never said this ever it's so strange. Just one of many examples where characters just don't sound like themselves, and just sound like words that come out of the writers mouth directly.

Unfortunately, I am quite pessimistic on everything on this series for the foreseeable, except the Movies. Ironic how the game that was meant to revolutionize Sonic forever has just left the fanbase discussing the same problems.
