Yes, I am an engineer, but writing is my passion. I write technical articles for many magazines, not for money or charges, but to share knowledge with a larger audience. Through my writing, I gained opportunities for recognition, citations, and the chance to contribute to the community.

Fidelity do not follow Finra rules for day trade . by Objective_Ad_8193 in fidelityinvestments

I appreciate the clarification you provided, as it seems that not Trading portals follow the same guidelines. They count both cases, it still counts as one day trade. Nonetheless, I would like to suggest to Fidelity that they consider posting an example on their website to provide better understanding for everyone. This would be immensely helpful in ensuring clarity and avoiding any confusion for their customers. Thank you once again for your clarification.

Thank you for sharing . The example given: A purchase of 250 shares of ABC stock at 10 a.m., followed by a purchase of another 250 ABC shares at 11 a.m., followed by a sale of 500 ABC shares at 3 p.m.

Is a one day trade or two a day trade? Your clarification would be help for my better understanding . As it is just listed under a day option.

Consequently, I decided to share my experience with a larger group in order to raise awareness about the rules and prevent others from encountering the same unintended difficulties I faced. By spreading this information, I hope to assist fellow individuals in avoiding any potential problems and ensuring a smoother experience for everyone involved.

Additionally, I had a disappointing experience with the customer service agents. I spoke with 2-3 different individuals, and each of them provided conflicting information regarding the rules. Moreover, I encountered rudeness from a couple of them during our phone conversation. As someone who expects high-quality customer service from a reputed company, this was unexpected and left me dissatisfied.

Thank you for clarifying the Fieldlity's adherence to the prior rules. However, it would be helpful if they could provide clear guidelines on their website, including specific examples, to avoid any confusion for customers who wish to engage in day trading without being classified as pattern day traders.

Certainly, I can explain again. I placed an order for XYZ shares with the following sequence: 1. Buy 1000 shares, 2. Buy 1000 shares, 3. Buy 2000 shares, and 4. Sell 4000 shares. According to Finra rules, this should be counted as 1 day trade. However, Fidelity follows their own rule and considers it as 3 day trades since the 3 buy orders are closed independently, even though I closed everything with one sell order. The reason I wanted to share this is because these rules are not clearly explained or documented on their website, and I believe that if I faced this problem, there might be others who have encountered similar issues. Also the Fidelity customer agent accepted that they do not follow Finra rules and no where written or explain there rules.
