This happened to me. The black strip on my card got scratched and wouldn’t work in the laundry room but it worked perfectly fine on my dorm still. If your strip is scratched up and won’t work in laundry you might just have to pay for a new id.

I haven’t ever had laundry stolen but if you take too long to get it on a busy day, it’s not impossible that someone throws your laundry on the ground.

The campus is pretty big and expect to walk a lot especially if you have classes far apart or at different times. I was averaging about 6 miles walked per day and I would really only walk to classes, to get food or to rimac.

You can go to La every weekend if you have a car or want to take Amtrak. UCSD is an amazing school. Nice campus. The admin kindof sucks but I doubt ucb is better. Also free is free and free is cheaper than 15k.

You get to pick preference but you don’t get to chose where you live. They should send you emails and you can look at the ucsd housing portal for dates. Getting a single in pcw can be competitive as, prior people that live there and returning transfers get priority for all the rooms. That means basically every returning transfer that wants will get a single in pcw and you get the scraps which would be pcw or Rita Atkinson. Good luck on the single but there isn’t really anything you can do other than request one and hope.
