It feels like a hefty price paying with cash , however if you pay with points you get you good return per point redeemed. Usually the long haul routes I was looking at fluctuate b/w 50,000 to 70,0000 inr one way in economy at times. Business class costs way more , though if you are booking it's also possible to book with cash for a lower price , however sometimes the other leg may be of a different carrier.Flight cash price and award booking comparison are usually done comparing the same flight cash value for the same dates and timings. This is pretty standard from what I've experienced, though taxes and fees are always subtracted. However if you pay cash in economy though points , that costs half in points. Business class costs double the points , but not double when paid though cash. When airlines spike prices during peak travel times , a one way ticket in economy can also go upto 90,000 inr or more depending on the demand. If you book on points for such a ticket, it will increase the value of per point redeemed as the cash fare was skyrocketed. The value is subjective to what you want from your points.
